tanya - oooh short short :) I keep doing that and then growing it out... couple of times have shaved it off for charity from about armpit length. I am fortunate to have very fast growing hair as I get bored with it frequently. Hope you're able to get to your meeting tonight and that you're feeling a little better today (not too much better though because that would just be stressful).
kirsten - so 15 now? That's an excellent number and it's really encouraging that they're continuing to get darker!
I found the same thing with losing mine, I didn't mention the first time to my family when it happened, only DH as it was before we were married and we weren't planning, I had murena (IUD) in and it failed - fell out and I didnt' realise. By the time I realised, I didn't realise it was too late, went on the pill and somehow that triggered a m/c. The bleeding and pain wasn't like anything I knew before so I did a test and it was faint but positive so I knew it was a m/c. Second time we were trying and we told everyone when I got a BFP at 5 weeks. It was easter weekend and we were visiting DH parents and my Dad interstate so thought we'd tell them all in person... two days later I woke up and was miscarrying. It was awful. People around me didn't want to talk about it and didn't want to really aknowledge it had happened. It was kind of, well, so early it doesn't count or it must have been a normal period and not a bfp... yeah... right! That's when I discovered bellybelly and joined up. I've found it amazing to be surrounded by such a supportive group of women who all understand where I'm coming from and provide words of comfort at just the right time in just the right way. It's been an incredible experience.
This time around, I somehow knew from the beginning that it was going to stick. I don't know why. I still had quite a bit of fear but something felt right that, retrospectively, hadn't felt right when I m/c at easter. Really hard to put my finger on it and realistically, it could just have been that easter was a baby boy and this is a girl and my two term pregs were girls so it just felt 'normal' to me!
I'm rambling again now and totally off topic... sorry!
tinar - great to hear from you :) and I'm really pleased things are going so well and that you've done a monster shop for baby! It is so much fun isn't it?!! I love nothing more than wandering into a shop intent on picking up baby stuff!
How incredibly weird having to apply for your own job! My sis in law works for QLD government. I hope you get the job!
Eat little and often. Or do the sustagen thing like I had to for ages. It's only in the last week (literally) that I've found myself wanting actual food instead of just drinks.
cherished - I've been the same through this pg until recently. Hormonal in a cuddly affectionate way. Problem is that DH is incredibly paranoid about BDing so it's been a struggle! lol
Fantastic scan results too :)
eliselouise - glad your scan has helped you to feel more comfortable. The moody will come and go. A girlfriend and I were chatting the other day and concluded that if we were our partners, we'd kick us out cos we're such moody cows!! lol
childers have just woken... better go tend to them :)
Have wonderful day everyone and special hello's to those I've missed this time! xox

hello all
I posted this on the blighted ovum thread a few days ago but am yet to get any response and am impatient so I thought I would post on this thread that seems more active
I had a chemical pregnancy (self diagnosed could have been a 5 week m/c) in July of last year and got pregnant again straight away.
We were really excited and even had a scan at about eight weeks when the dr told me it was all fine (although he could not see a heartbeat!)
In October at about 11 weeks we drove to the nearest big hospital for our scan (about 3hours away) only to be told the sac was empty - it was a blighted ovum:crying:.
I had a d and c straight away and was told to wait a couple of cycles before trying again.
It took about a week longer than normal for my period to come back and then my cycle had changed but I have just found out I am preggers again after only really trying for one month! :leap:
I am almost afraid to get excited until I see a heartbeat and am trying to keep a lid on all my plans until I know this bean is sticky!!
I know it is hard for people who haven't been there to understand but I still get annoyed when any of the few people who know the details fail to recognise that the BO was a fully fledged preg there was just no baby!
It has given me great hope to read everyone's success stories and find such a supportive online environment so thanks heaps for posting!

Smallfryplus: I totally agrea with "trusting the team" but I work for a Not for Profit org and they would say "if you don't need to be there, we wont pay!" the thing is I'm 5 mins from work so if I am "needed" baby and I in the car and off we go. We'll see what I can wangle when it's time. I'mn not wanting to job hunt but it may also be on the cards.
Kirsten I inspected my loo paper till around 16 weeks  it does get better but only with time I'm afraid. Hang in there. I had my first scan at 8 weeks with iVF clinic they like to "make sure" there is a heartbeat. But my friend had one at 6 and saw a beautiful heart beat. She's now 12 weeks after MC and very happy.
Elise glad you are keeping busy hope you are feeling well.
Cherished thanks for you vibes but I"m still at home
Tinar I hear you re own boss DH usually is, and will be at the end of the year again, however he earns double so can work less. :D re energy and 2nd trimester, I think I did but not much, and it's so great to reach 25+weeks time will fly and it's is great to start really looking, feeling pg. Love baby shopping. You having a baby shower?
Welcome and congrats Chuckie
ATM had really regular BH or contractions not sure hourly from 1.30-5.30 almost told DH to stay home but baby was moving alot during each one, so I didn't and well no more since :wall: really would like to know what a contraction feels like as aposed to baby and bh? so confusing.
It's 40C here today and after my feet blowing up like balloons yesterday I'm staying off them as much as poss.
OB tonight, lets see if she is more 'helpful' this week

I keep forgetting about this thread and then i have so much to catch up on!
Had to come and tell you all I had a follow-up U/S today and everything looks great. The baby was sooooo active. It was wriggling all over the place like crazy (the tech was having trouble getting pics cuz it wouldn't stop squirming LOL). It waved at us, punched at us and kept kicking out it's legs. It was amazing, I teared up. The heart rate was 138hbm which she said was great. I think that means I'm having another boy as that's around what DS's HR always was too. The tech said some people swear by that but it's not very reliable since the HR changes all the time. I'm so happy now.
Thankfully m/S is much better as is my energy level. Now I'm suffering with heart burn and serious indigestion but I'd much rather those than the nausea.
Chuckie - welcome to the thread and congrats on your pregnancy. Sadly, unless they've been through it themselves, people just don't understand what it's like to have a m/c and they tend to be a bit insensitive. I'm so sorry to hear you suffered a loss but am happy to hear you are expecting again. Try tp think positive and hopefully things will go smoothly for you.
Will have to do personals next time but a big hi to everyone!
-
Hmmmmmm, note to self: If I'm going to spend the next 8 weeks with my head hanging over the toilet bowl, must ensure that it is a pretty colour and smells nice!:ROFL:
-
Kirsten....I used to sit there telling myself "this is a good sign" over and over again...as well as making sure I really regularly cleaned the loo (hard to keep up at work!) and had cans of spray lol
Twin S...well i must be having a girl then cause all of my HB's have been above 159 :)
Greens...come on! when are we going to meet this baby???
Hi to everyone else.
AFM: had midwife appt tonight. have to go ahve ultrasound as fundal length (uterus) is 5wks ahead of bubs dates :( could be nothing, could be bub isnt growing well. the upside is I get to see bub again
When the midwife got the doppler out for HB (159) Zen kept moving away lol, she got stern and told Zen to stop it next thing you know BOOT right into the doppler lol
trying not to stress and be positive but as you know, its hard, especially having made it this far
-
kirsten - hehehe I like that statement!
tinar - is it possible that it's the way Zen was lying at the time? Or maybe the midwife got the measurement wrong (not likely, I know, but still, worth a try?!) Enjoy the opportunity to have a look at the gorgeous little one again! I'd love to get another look in now, would be pretty cool to see how much you can see this far along!
twinsis - how can you possibly forget about us in here?! lol ;) glad to see you back in and that everything is going well for you. Sounds like a fiesty baby you've got happening there!
greenslw - I've been trying to remember the difference between BH and real contractions. I can't for the life of me but I do remember that I knew the difference when the time came first time around. I think the main thing is that getting up and walking around doesn't stop them whereas it often will stop BH or reduce the frequency/severity of them. They will remain consistent and will start to happen closer together. And I'm lost after that for ideas on how they differ!!
chuckie - welcome! It's great you've found us in here and even greater that you've been able to get that BFP so quickly! Congratulations! everything goes smoothly for you from here.
AFM - for those who like chocolate chip cookies... I decided to make some the other day. I had no cookie recipes (don't usually bake sweets other than the odd muffins or brownies or birthday cakes) so I hit the internet and tracked down a cookie recipe. It was good, but I felt a need to change it to make it better. So, with that in mind, today I did just that. My DD1 declared it 'so much better than the other ones and they were really good too" and as for me, I promptly scoffed down at least half a dozen of them. They are now chocolate chocolate chip cookies and have white and milk chocolate chips in a chocolate cookie base. So darn good it's not funny. They're kind of fudgy on the inside and chewy/crunchy on the outside. mmmmm drooling again and I want to go eat more of them!!! I've decided since the recipe is now so far away from what the original one was, I am safe to publish it for people without citing the origin (problem is, I can't remember the origin so I can't cite it!!) So, for those of you with chocolate cravings, these are quick and easy and fantastically yummy and here's the recipe -
Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients
• 2/3 cup caster sugar
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 250g butter, softened
• 2 large eggs,beaten
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 cups plain flour
• 1/4 cup cocoa
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups chocolate chips (I used equal white and milk choc)
Preheat oven to 180 degrees (170 if fan forced). Mix sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla in large bowl. Add eggs and combine well. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. The dough will be very stiff.
Stir in chocolate chips. You can add pecans, or other nuts, at this time if desired. Keep stirring and folding the chocolate chips and nuts into the dough until they are evenly dispersed. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. The chocolate chip cookies need to be this far apart because the dough spreads during cooking. Bake 6 - 8 minutes or until they look almost done. You may even think that the chocolate chip cookies are underdone, but they will finish cooking through out of the oven. If you leave them in too long, the cookies will be tough or crispy.
The centers will be soft. Let cool completely then remove from cookie sheet. If you try to remove the cookies while they are still warm, the chocolate chips are still very soft and this can cause a very big mess.
Let me know if anyone tries this cos I'm curious to see if everyone else loves them as much as I do!! lol

Sore boobs???
OK today I am freaking out, over the last few days I have 'thought' that my boobs were getting less sore every day and today I am sure of it because they are not sore at all :( I've also got a very slight little bit of cramping.... I am so worried! I will make a dr's appointment for today or Monday depending on when I can get in and I will have another scan and bloods again, I had booked in for a 9 week scan but that is toooooo far away!
So my question to you all is if your boobs stopped being sore, either in the 1st tri at some stage or in the 2nd tri etc, Do they have growth spurts so to speak where they are really sore than settle down a bit than do they get really sore again or did/are your boobs just sore all time or do they just keep getting worse?
Please be honest I wish I had of known the 1st time I had a miscarriage that if your symptoms go away you should go and get checked out! I know it's one of the 1st signs that there is a problem but I don't really know how the sore boob thing works, I had assumed that they just keep getting sorer until you finish breastfeeding really?
I'll be back for persies a bit later......
-
Cherished - Don't get too freaked out yet. When I was PG with DS my boobs did gradually get less sore until one day they felt fine. With this pregnancy I go through periods when my boobs are super sore, and periods when they are not. As for cramping, I've had lots of that through both pregnancies. As everything is stretching and making room for baby, it does hurt a little. Definitely get checked by your doctor if you are worried but don't worry too much yet as everything is probably fine.
Smallfry - oh I would never forgot about you wonderful ladies in here, i just keep forgetting to come by this thread for some reason. Those cookies sounds really yummy, I may have to make some on the week-end with DS.
TinaR - hope your scan goes well and baby is measuring right on target.
-
hi cherishsed - I don't tend to get very sore boobs with preg. They hurt, but not much more than when AF is due. This time round I had a huge growth spurt and had to go buy new bras by around 9 - 10 weeks then they settled down. All pain went away. By half way through second tri I had to go out and buy another round of bras cos I'd had another growth spurt. Then, only a couple weeks ago, they have started hurting again, this time more than before but it's just my nipples. They're incredibly sensitive and really sore, I'm pleased that I have several padded bras cos that's the only way I can get comfort! Glad they make them padded in big cup sizes now cos I've gone up to an F!!
Knowing what's happened to you in the past, I'd probably see the doc just to set your mind at ease, after all, what do we pay them for? But yeah, my experience, the pain did subside and then come back this time several times. First two pregs I don't recall much pain but I do know that they grew a lot then as well. Oh, and the crampy feelings, I had them constantly right through frst tri and most of second tri but particularly bad through first tri.
ps. even when breast feeding I didn't have much pain, generally only if the baby slept longer and delayed a feed or if I got a blocked duct. I was very lucky not to have major probs with feeding as I had a friend get mastitis so severely she ended up in hospital and they were actually concerned for her life because the infection got so bad. Was quite scary. Never ever heard of anyone getting it so bad as her but everything went wrong with her preg and labour - she had a perfect baby though which goes to show that no matter how much trouble you have during preg, it doesn't mean you won't have that perfect baby.
twinsis - glad you don't forget us ;) and I hope you have fun baking cookies. I posted the recipe on my facebook page cos a number of g/fs wanted it and now they're all drooling. DH has taken heaps to work so that he can share them around and brag. I have to make another batch on the weekend for a bbq so I don't mind losing them to his work mates! lol
-
Thanks Twin Sister & Smallfry I can't tell you how much you have put my mind at ease. I am still pretty devestated thinking that it could all be over :crying: I guess it's jsut anothe reality check... I have been in la la land.
I think I will still see the dr and get a referal for a scan and a BT and then I will have them for if I want to get them done beofre the 9 week scan that I hae already booked in.
-
Thanks for all of your kind words of welcome.
Cherished1 - I know you are further along then me but I was 11wks preg just a few months back and with both this one and that my boobs have never been as sore as I expected (everyone always says your boobs really hurt). Last time I also went through an initial growth spurt and also had to go up a size in about week 9 (very embarrassing in a small town when the woman asked me if I realised I was trying on maternity bras!) But then mine don't really hurt with AF either so go figure. With a history of loss you can demand as many scans as you want (or so the gyno who did my d and c told me) so go and get scanned everyweek if it puts your mind at rest. Everyone's symptoms are different so try not to read to much into what has happened to others. for you.
smallfryplus - thanks for the recipie looks like a good excuse to bake this loooong weekend and they sound delicious!
greenslw - I have read back over this whole thread and am very impatient to read your birth announcement - hurry up bubba!!
AFM - went to the dr yesterday (early I know) to get a referal for an early scan (I am going on hols in a couple of weeks and wanted to book the scan in at a specific time and day before I leave in the hope of seeing a heartbeat before I go so I can relax). I will be 6w and 5 days (anyone had any luck with a heartbeat at this early stage?) I didn't see a heartbeat with either previous preg so this would be a big milestone for me - fingers crossed!
-
Twin Sister glad to hear4 mS is better and US went well :D
Kirsten  that's the spirit
TinaR I know I know, I've had words with Squeak but no sign yet. So when will you know what's going on?
Smallfry if I could go to the shop I'd make them they sound so nice. thanks for the BH contraction help, I figured the same, So it's BH atm. But OB said it's still a good sign.
Cherished my boobs only hurt for a while then nothing till a few weeks ago. I got cramps all 1st trimester they. I think make a dr's appointment will help you relax.
Chuckie my friend had a scan around 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat.
ATM saw ob yesterday and made another appointment for next Thursday. she said she's away on the weekend back Tuesday, so if bubs comes over the weekend I'll have another ob (not fussed). She said bubs has moved further down, and that the regular BH are a good sign.
So it's just waiting. My dad rang from Canada yesterday and said he had a feeling... I wish everyone else would stop having "feelings" and I"d have a Feeling LABOR! cranky mumma alert. Didn't sleep enough. I seem to crash one night for like 10-12 hours then the next day 4-5. who knows.
Have a great day all,
-
Cherished, this pregnancy is different to my first in that my boobies have NEVER hurt but only tingled at times. Please try and relax, remember you've got an awesomly high HCG, a great HB and you've seen bubs. Those are good odds to have in your corner hunni. You will make yourself stressed and sick, I know you think about it but don't get worked up unless its necessary. Bloody hell, I wish I was with you so I could give you a cuddle!
-
Sunny my love, it's always so great to hear from you  Thanks... I felt your cuddle through your post.
Chuckie thanks for your words, they are very reassuring, when will your scan be? The oB told me on Wed that there should be heartbeat at 7 weeks as you can start to see one at around 6.5 weeks. So I hope you can ;)
Greenslw I get excited every time I see a post from you!!! I think you are going into labour! Your boobie advice was also very helpful hon, thanks... Now go have your baby already!
AFM I have got a huge rash on my arm (from stress) It's funny that I didn't feel 'that' worried to have broken out in a rash! I knew I was stressed this morning but it jsut goes to show that stress really does effect your body in different ways without you knowing it and it can't be good for bubs. I am less worried now that I have been to the dr's and gotten a referral to have another scan. At this stage I will wait until the 9 week mark (unless I freak out again)!
-
Cherished, I know you're into alternitive medicine etc. how bout some vitamine B? I drank the liquid stuff regularly in my first trimester, bright yellow pee but it did calm me down, I've had more the last couple of weeks.
ATM still waiting, but ok, I've shifted my brain from "hurry up" to "enjoy this it's not going to last" and it seams to be helping.
-
Thanks Greenslw :) I've been thinking to get more of my high potency Vit B complex tablets for a couple of weeks now so your post has prompted me into action ;) My rash has gone now and I am feeling much happier and calmer, most likely due to feeling sick, dry reaching yesterday and sore boobies again :D It's great you've been able to change your mind set to something more positive. Now on a separate note we were belly buddies (not sure if you remember) my 2nd angel was due on Jan 29th I think ( funny that I can't remember the exact date) and I have only just thought yesterday that I could be getting ready to give birth too. I wasn't pregnant again on my 1st EDD in October and it was really depressing so thank goodness I am pregnant for this one as it is totally keeping my mind off the past! I remember being so excited that we were in the same belly buddy thread and than shattered that I had to leave :( So it's just wonderful that we both post in here at the very exciting end of your pregnancy and the very exciting start of mine. Thanks for being such a great friend
-
Cherished1 - so pleased you are feeling happier and calmer and the rash has gone - all the usual preg symptoms are enough on their own! My scan is booked for Feb 4th fingers crossed.
Smallfryplus - made the choc chip cookies yest they were delicous and DH was thrilled they were soft (the holy grail of cookies apparently).
Greenslw - hopefully the long weekend will make time go a bit faster for you! - thanks for letting me know about the scan.
ATM woke up yesterday with the sore nipples I remember from last time (not as bad as others say but you know they are there) happy to be up to week 5 (feels like sooo early after being in double figures a few months back) feeling pretty good (m/s is yet to kick in in earnest but I am having dreams that I am m/c almost every night!)
