Im just going to have a quick whinge :( Dh got back late yesterday and was home for 12 hours and didnt get to feel the baby move :( theres only so many times u can yell 'quick its kicking' and he comes running or grab his hand and put it on my tummy... but then nothing.. i was so excited about him coming home for the night just so he cld feel it. I feel like ive let him down! Stupid i know. But so frustrating :( Now hes gone for another week :( i woke up at 5.00am and was just laying there waiting for it to kick, ofcourse it did so i woke dh up and then it stopped! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :wall::wall:
I know theres plenty more times that hes going to be able to feel it, but right now i feel like crying :( hmmmm maybe im being a tad hormonal too...

Reet - Aww, I remember feeling the same when I'd say 'bubby's moving!' and DP would just say 'that's nice'. I would wonder when he was going to get to feel what I was feeling! You're right though, there are plenty of opportunites for him to feel it, but it is still frustrating. Don't sweat it, it won't be long before bubby is kicking all the time and he gets to enjoy it too. I also find that when you WANT them to kick, they're all quiet and snoozy. Then when you're settling down for a sleep etc, or DH isn't there, blamo.. kicky time. :( You be as hormonal as you like, hun. Have a cry if you want!

Dory & Kellie - Thanks, I'm heading off to the hospital in about half an hour and surprisingly nervous!! Off to the bowels of hell I go! LOL. Lucky DP is with me so I won't be scared trying to navigate and park.

Hi dory and everyone else...

ATM...must say i am very hormonal and crouchy at the mo...everything is getting to me...cant wait for second tri...think i felt much better by that stage with DD....and i think i have put walls up and i think im a little detached from this baby just incase something happens....with dd i used to touch my belly all the time and was over the moon and smiling all the time.......but with this one im not doing that...think its a fear reaction........do you think its normal? i hope that changes.......i think the ms is getting to me a bit also...i feel horrible most of the time and im not going to gym or doing the things i love.......and im being a bit irrational...plus the scan TWO days before christmas is freaking me out a bit...but i just keep telling myself that the morning sickness is a good sign and the baby has already lived past my little angel so thats a good sign as well........ahhhhh the joys of pregnancy and those lovely hormones.....

Melster - oh so normal blossom. Like T said, hope you get your happy self back soon. But if you don't - go see your Dr - it's good to talk about these things to the Dr sometimes.

Audax - I am with T again, have a good birth sweet. I am so so very excited for you. This is just the best.... Then it gets really hard ( well it did for me and most people say no matter what other people say it can't prepare you for how hard it is - but someone very wise said to me - mark 6 weeks on your calendar and celebrate, as it's a milestone worth celebrating and things usually have settled or started to settle down a bit by then - and when you're at 2 weeks and 4 weeks 6 weeks seems like an ETERNITY away, but then it's there and gone too soon)

Not much doing here. Hoping to get to the shops today. Went yesterday but at the WRONG time and it was just a debacle from start to finish and I ended up cross. My Dad arrives in Bris tomorrow after driving up from Vic ( at almost 70 - is he crazy - I have no idea why they didn't fly - $ is not an issue. at least I don't think so, I think it's more he wants to get around while up here and visit his sis in Syd on the way). It will be good to see him - first time since HB was born. LOL I just went to take a sip of my hot drink and grabbed the breast pump and almost took a swig.... haven't yet been brave enough to taste it, as I don't much care for the smell of it. Someone told me once it makes an OK capuccino.... not sure I'll be trying it anytime soon.

Hi everyone! Sorry i havent done persies... im so busy with work - hanging for this week to be over so things settle down!

Got our results for NT scan and came back as 1 in 7810 so my ob was very happy with those results!Our ob is so gorgeous, he asked to see all our scan pics and then asked if he could do a little scan to have a peek at how big bubs had got! Hes so awsome!!
Booked in our 20wk scan! Feels so surreal!! Have to pinch myself that this is all happening! And I have a real belly now that everyone notices, only little of course but i look pregn ant!!!!! Oooh its too cool!! :bellygrowing::leap::bellyrubs:

Melster - It's totally normal to try to protect yourself. Realistically though, no amount of not touching your belly or not feeling attached would make it any easier if something bad did happen. Still it's a perfectly normal reaction. It's GREAT that you've gotten past the gestation of your prev. loss, and ms can only mean good things (for bubby, not for you lol). Don't worry about what's to come, just focus on today and enjoy every moment hun.

T-Hopes - What an awesome OB. Congrats on the good NT results, and yay for looking pg, it's so exciting when the belly appears!

Audax - :dance: Wishing you a positive birth experience and can't wait to hear all about your little bubby. Enjoy!

AFM - The scan went well. I ended up getting to the hospital early, waiting about 40 mins, then having my scan. The lady was lovely and bubby is looking so big. Then we were sent away to wait around for a while as they were flat out. They wanted me to see a doctor as well so he could have a look as well. Kinda made me wonder why he didn't just do the scan in the first place instead of keeping me there an extra couple of hours and doing a 2nd scan! AAAAANYWAY, Apparently only one foot is affected, and if the other is as well it's very mild as it looks pretty normal to them. We got to see the feet in 3d but unfortunately bubby was being uncooperative and wouldn't give us a shot of his/her face. The dr didn't seem interested in trying to get bubby to move, he attempted once and that was it. :( Ahh well. After all that we had to wait around some more to see a counsellor, and she explained a bit about what kind of treatments would be neccesary. Today was the first time anyone mentioned surgery. I realised this was a possibility.... but the way she said it it was like surgery is a definite. (I didn't cry though, how brave of me) I thought only 10-20% needed surgery after bracing?? I decided not to worry for now though, as nothing can be done until after the birth anyway. We're just happy he/she is growing well and is less affected than we thought. Sorry for the novel, it was a bit of an epic day! Now it's time to rest this fat foot of mine and de-stress. It took 6 hours all up and DP spent a good portion of the time complaining about well, everything. LOL. I was tempted to tell him to put a sock in it, but that's just his way. So I let him express himself and just smiled and nodded. :) If you got through all that, bravo. :) I hope you ladies had a more relaxing day than we did!

oh Forshelby: sorry ot was so long but its nice to hear everything is going well. Im with you, there is no point over thinking things yet. You have weeks still to grow your baby, then the traction time and then discussion time with Drs about outcomes and surgery! There are many decisions we make as parents, soome easy and some hard but none of us know when or how we will make these until allthe info is in front of us!

Hi everyone-- I am so sorry that I have not been able to check in with you. I have missed you! I am so far behind in EVERYTHING. It started around Thanksgiving. I have started maternity leave negotiations and trying to find a replacement pastor at the church where I serve. The Advent and Christmas holidays are upon us and I am swamped. I am finding that I am so exhausted when I get home that all I have time for is a little snuggle with my hubby. Not to mention the nearly 200 Christmas cards to prepare for my congregation.

Okay-- so about the little boy that I am (hopefully) having-- We finally got a crib. Big step here. I still can't believe that I am pregnant. Even though I feel movement. Even though I seem to have all the pregnancy aches and pains. Really. This is how it is. I feel like I am "pretending." The doctor says that I am far enough along that the risk of loss is like 1% or something. It hasn't really sunk in. I think because I was just so numb last Christmas Eve --preaching about Mary and Baby Jesus when I just had a miscarriage was so so so difficult. It's like I am protecting myself or something. Stupid. I know.

Anyway-- sorry for the long post. Healthwise, I am battling 3 stupid infections: yeast, foot, and now my finger. Three different infections, but they seem minor LOL. I go to the doctor (regular doc) tomorrow to double check on the finger infection. The ob-gyn told me that my resistance is down-- something about killer cells being suppressed in pregnant women. So I am trying to drink, drink, drink and rest, rest, rest...which is almost ludicrous at this time of year.

Yikes, sorry for rambling and for not being in cyberspace to check in with you lovely gals.

Tegam - Thanks, that means a lot. DP and I have talked about it a lot and are feeling better about it after a good night's sleep. We got a good look at bubby's foot and it looked barely turned in at all so any treatment should be straightforward and we'll face it when we get to it. :)

Sunshine - Sometimes it's amazing how much things can change in a year, isn't it? Last year must have been so hard for you, so it's understandable why you're feeling a bit shell shocked. You're doing really well though and it won't be long before you're holding that little boy of yours.

Audax - where are you or your BA? either will do??

Had my specialist appt and it was not real great he did an u/s the placenta is covering the cervix still and he said that it is highly unlikely to move in his 50 years experience he has never seen one move from where mine is located SH#T SH#T!.
So he gave me the scarey speech NO SEX!:shakehead: at all i am not to do anything physical only light housework do not let myself get tired i am not to be on my own at any time and i am not allowed to be more than 30 minutes from hospital at all times so no travel no nothing.
Then he went on to say the mortality rate of this kind of placenta previa is 1 in 1000:o and i will definately bleed 3-4 times before bub is born i am to not panic but get to the hospital ASAP and if its a little bleed i will be in for a few days if the bleed is heavy i will be staying in hospital and if i hemorrage they will deliver baby.
He also said that i need a specialist to do the c section not a registrar as it will be difficult.
So all in all it pretty much scared the hell out of me.
So little miss will be delivered by c section at 37 weeks if no problems before then so that is in just over 12 weeks

Ferrals I'm sorry your placenta hasn't moved up. I was so hoping it would although there is till time. Are you far from the hospital? Yes you don't want a registrar doing the c/s as one of the issues with grade 4 PP is as the placenta is down so low the actual area of the uterus that contracts is the fundus so once the placenta is out the bleeding doesn't neccessarily stop as there is nothing contracting the lower part of the uterus which helps stop the bleeding. But don't worry to much. There is heaps they do to stop it but thats basically why you don't want a reg or a reg on his own anyway. Do you know if the placenta is on the posterior section or anterior? They say 1:25 pregnancies are PP and they have been fixing PPs up for many years so you will be in the best hands and be fine as will your little miss disco dancer. 12weeks thats so close!

Mildez-he didnt say but last u/s it was posteria i am freaking out now i was not so concerned before i just thought ok i might bleed a bit but have a c section and everthing will be fine.
But now i am worried he said i can not even go to the u/s clinic i want in newcastle as its to far a drive and to far from my hospital he also scared me in saying that i will bleed a few times and it is life threatening OMG! now i am going to be sitting here waiting and thinking every dribble is blood he said i can even hemorrage in my sleep WTF! great bedside manner.
Now i worry i could kick the bucket.

Gee that does seem scary Ferrals. Sorry that his bed side manner wasnt better but maybe there is no nice way of being told this stuff. where do you work? Will you be able to keep that up? Whats DHs thoughts??

Also not sure if this is a happy thought for you or not but if the placenta is that low it means bubs almost didnt implant! WOW see she really is a miracle allround!

Tegam-I had the same thoughts it is very scarey to go through everything we have been through and now this i just want us both to make it safe and healthy.
As for my work DH has no work with this court case and them revoking his security licence and it has been ajourned until march when bub is due he has applied for other jobs but having done security for 15 years he has no other recent experience with anything else so he has lost $900 a week and i am covering what bills i can i only bring home $500 a week and rent is $420 so my family payment covers food and petrol and car insurance i had to suspend health insurance and foxtel and a few other things because we just dont have any money we wont be able to pay phone and electricity bills when they come in unless i do extra shifts at work but how can i do that when the doctor told me not to get tired and do the least amout of any work or house work i am not even allowed to dance.
I dont know what i am going to do what if they put me in hospital i have 4 weeks long service and 4 weeks holiday leave so eight weeks in total so i need to work at least for another month before i can take holiday pay that will take me to jan then my long service starts in feb until march and then my maternity leave kicks in so i just need to hang on for another 4 weeks.

Oh you can do 4 more weeks im sure! It all hits you at once didnt it! I cant wait for this crappy 2010 to be over!

Ferrals just think of all the people who do have PP and go on to have an elective c/s at 38weeks without a drop of blood. That could be you. Alot of PP have already had abit of spotting now and you have had nothing. In 5yrs of midwifery I have only seen 1 nasty case out of hundreds and it was complete medical negligence as the stupid Dr refused to do a c/s until poor mummy had a big bleed (she had been in hossy for over a week by then at term). Alot of the time you wont get any bleeding what so ever until after birth. I think Drs like to scare the cra- out of you so if you do start bleeding you race in rather then mossy on in in your own time IYKWIM.

Im sorry im going to do another selfish post..

Our little puppy dog was hit by a car this afternoon.. it was so awful, i havent stopped crying since it happened, she had to stay at the vet tonight, they didnt seem too positive that she was going to make it thru the night. I cant bare the thought of her dying all by herself in a cage, they wldnt let her come home tho. Ive never had a dog die, i really dont know how im going to get thru the night. She was in so much pain, all i can think about is the thud the car made when it hit her. All the old man cld say was 'i cant believe shes not dead from that!' and then went on to say shes a stupid little puppy for running out in front of him. Hes a stupid man for not slowing down!!! We cld see her running from metres away, if he had braked just a little bit, it wldnt have been so bad, he only braked once he hit her.. we live on a very quiet street where everyone goes 30ks cos theres always kids playing etc. He was going atleast 60ks.

Dh keeps reminding me that ive gotta be strong and stay calm for our growing little baby cos i keep getting quite hysterical thinking about it all. How do i not think about it tho and stay calm?! Its impossible. I want tomoro to be here but then again im absolutely dreading it cos what happens if she dies tonight.. i know i will have to get thru it but i honestly cant see how i will. The only loss i have ever been thru is my m/c... strangely enough nala was born on the same day we had the m/c so ive always thought of her as my little angel.
Anyway im just upsetting myself even more talking about it... pls pray our little girl is going to be alright, and if she cant fight it she just goes peacefully.

Ferrals - Ugh that sounds really scary! You're having a really rough year, hun. :( I agree with Tegam though, I think sometimes they just give it to you straight without any sugar-coating to make sure you get to hospital ASAP if you have a little bleed. Try to relax as much as you can though, there's always hope you'll get through without any scary bleeding episodes and I just know this little one will be perfect. As will you. :)

Reet - Even though I already knew about this from fb, just reading your post made me tear up! :( I've had everything crossed all night for your little (big) puppy dog and I'm just dying to hear that she pulled through ok. I know it's hard not to think the worst, but I promise you, the vet is the best place for her to be right now. She's in good hands, and they wouldn't just let her die in her cage on her own. She won't be suffering, they will medicate her so she isn't aware of what's going on. If she does slip away, it'll be peacefully and someone will be there with her. Ok now you've got ME crying! :( Don't fret about baby right now, we all get a bit hysterical now and then. He/she is also in good hands (tummy) and if you need to cry, let it out. My little dog ran out onto the road today and I LOST IT this morning, thinking about Nala. I called him and called him and he kept just wandering around looking dumb.... I was ready to start crying it was all in slow-mo and I just thought 'oh god a car is going to come around that corner any second'. DP ended up marching over and just pointing at the car and the little bugger jumped back in. Phew! I was so upset though driving back home, he normally responds to me really well when I give him a command, and I even used my most angry growly 'GET IN THE CAR' voice and he just...... looked at me. :( Oh golly gosh our puppies are like children aren't they? Imagine us two with babies, lol... we'll be frantic 24/7. Let me know as soon as you hear about your sweet girl. Oh yes, and STUPID OLD MAN. I would have socked him right in the face. Typical older generation men, blame everything around them for their own mistake. His slow reaction time was the problem.

AFM - Feeling a bit down on myself today, as DP had another one of his 'I'm not having a go at you...... BUT' moments last night. Apparently I've put on too much weight (10kg) because some other woman only put on that amount by the end of her pg. I tried to explain that every woman is different and that it's impossible to lose weight right now, (also that the dr said 15-20kg is still in the normal spectrum) but he thinks otherwise. Apparently if I went for a walk every day I'd lose weight. Um, no. I can't lose weight right now, I'm pregnant!!! Gah. I explained that my body is storing fat for breastfeeding, but he keeps focussing on the fact that bubby only weighs around a kilo. He says I'm bordering on unhealthy and that I'll have to work hard to lose weight after bubby is born. I get it, I'm not as thin as I used to be. BUT I'M PREGNANT!!! Yes, I eat what I want a lot of the time, because I'm craving it. Yes I realize I'll have to work hard to lose weight but I've done it before, I can do it again! Sometimes I feel like he would love me less if I wasn't able to lose weight for some reason. He has a real problem with very overweight people, and doesn't hold back in telling me so at times. God, that makes it sound really bad but it's not like he isn't a darling 99% of the time. He just seems quite hung up on body image, and at the moment it's mine! At least he lets me know what he thinks gently, but frankly, now isn't the time to be giving me a heads up on my weight gain. I am VERY aware of it. I do feel like a beached whale. Right now I need to know I am loved regardless of the size pants I'm wearing, (which is only size 14, give me a break!) and for god's sake, I'm big because I'm carrying his baby. I made that point last night and his response was 'you wanted this'. Yes, I did, but I didn't want to be told that I'm fat!! Let's end this on a high note. In his defense, he did say that I'm still beautiful, just a bit chunkier than before. *sigh* lol MEN! Perhaps I should start talking about the size of his penis and act really hung up on guys with small d****s. I think that would be the male equivalent of being the pregnant woman being told she's fat. Can't wait to be back to my old size 10 self sometimes.

Sorry for the mini-rant, I really needed that though.

I love it forshelby. Do it ever so casually... just say there are women in your forum talking about the size of their husbands willys and you just cant believe that they can get so big! "i mean darling yours does the job its just not a chunky as others it would seem"

She died overnight at the vets tho :cry: I havent been able to stop crying all day.. i cant imagine ever stopping right now. Everything in the whole house reminds me of her, even going to the toilet cos the cheeky little bugger wld steal the toilet rolls and rip them up.
I guess this is to be expected when i have never had a pet die... gosh my 14 yr old little silky is still kicking!

I just miss her so much :( i dont know how im going to get thru the next few days :(

(forshelby my dh is the same about overweightness.. he is even paranoid about my um.. vajayjay getting puffier! He used to bring up all the time that when he met me i was 50kgs and i have basically put on a kg each year since.. EXCUSE ME! I was 18 years old!!!! He always points out really skinny mums too and says see theres no excuse not to get back to how u were once u've had the baby etc. Grrrr stupid men. Anyway ill come back later when i can think straight and we can discuss this further! xx)

Poo :hug: so sorry about your dog! One of the reasons i dont have a pet! Cant stand the pain of the loss!

Tegam - LOL, the more subtle the better, eh? I don't think I have the heart to do it though... poor guy will end up with a complex. And IKWYM about the pet thing, I get all teary when I even consider the fact that my kitty is 7 going on 8 and is probably halfway through her lifespan. Even though she's a cow with attitude, lol.. I love her just the same. :( It is hard though, but I just can't be without a pet. Their love is so innocent and they don't care if you've done your hair or whatever. I think it's the look in their eyes that gets me, of total adoration no matter what. *sniffle* :)

Reet - I'm so so sorry about your beloved furbaby. I wish I could fast forward through the horrible part so you could start feeling better. Unfortunately the only cure is time. :( I totally understand how you're feeling right now though, I've lost pets too and it hurts just as much as losing a person. :hug: Having their love even for a short while is so worth it though. Take the time to feel sad and cry all your cries out and you will slowly feel stronger and better. About men and weight.. PFFT is all I have to say. Not every woman is the same and some of us have crap metabolisms and an aversion to exercise, lol. I suppose he has a point that it CAN be done, but for some it's just very difficult! You tell him he'd better recognize, fool. :) We can rant more when you're feeling up to it. Go and rest up now and grieve for your little furbaby. DP was really sad when I told him what happened, so if it helps at all we're thinking of you and feeling sad for Nala too. :hug:

Hello everyone else!

Afm.. Been spotting, cramping, bleeding since Saturday but apparently everything is fine.. It's all stopped now and I've had pretty much nothing yesterday and nothing at all today so here's hoping that's the end of that nonsense! It's been a nightmare and I was convinced that was the end. I'm on progesterone now and am hoping and praying this bub is stickier than ten sticky things.

Oh and Forshelby.. On the weight issue.. My DH once made a comment in jest about my weight at the end of my pregnancy (I'd put on 20kgs!) and I told him that I had an excuse and asked him what his was and grabbed his tummy flab! Shut him up real quick!
