I had my ultrasound on Friday and my baby is now measuring a week behind her dates. I had an early ultrasound at 8 weeks, one at 13 weeks and she was measuring correctly then. Has anyone else has this and should I worry??
Pretty normal especially this early on. My second went from measuring a week ahead in early scans to a bit behind at around the stage you are at now... Babes don't grow like clockwork
Yep, please don't worry, i always measure 2cm behind, just the way my body carries and where bubs sit.
When we (midwives, drs etc) measure your belly we aren't actually interested in that exact number, we are interested in it compared to last time and the next time. If there was a massive difference then we would follow it up. We look at the big picture. Also remember every health professional measures slightly different, the tape just being in a slightly different spot might change the measurement
It was explained to me that the early scans are most accurate for dating, by the 18wk scan, baby has taken on its personal characteristics like long legs, short legs etc. Measuring a week behind now is ok. You might have also caught baby right before a growth spurt which if you had the scan a few days later might see baby measuring a few more days ahead. As long as baby follows its curve, its ok. If they are concerned they will order more scans.
DS always measured spot on, with every single ultrasound we had, in every measurement they took. Perfectly average, although when he was actually born some of his measurements were slightly too small or slightly too big.
DD1 usually measured on point with everything but her head. Her head was always a few "weeks" ahead, and threw off her average. Even now, her head is bigger than the average 3yo head
DD2 measured two weeks ahead at all three (?) ultrasounds we had, and her/our fundal measurements kept that consistency up as well. Now she's still a little ahead of the curve. As with DD1, big head. Lucky me, I make little fatheads
