    2 heartbeats on doppler

Hi this is my first post, sorry to just jump in like this but I have to know if anyone has experienced something similar.

I'm 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow with my 4th. Yesterday my doctor listened for my baby's heartbeat with a doppler. She heard the galloping horses as soon as she put it on my tummy but gently shooshed me as I began to speak. She started counting and then held my wrist to check my heartbeat. She said t"hat's the baby's, that's yours" and then she found another down lower.

She told me I was also large for my dates. She has booked me in for a scan on Monday but told me I could be large because I have extra fluid and the extra beat could be an echo but we would see Monday. Interestingly she is the mother of twins herself.

Now I'm going nuts wondering. I never considered the possibility of twins until she brought it up. This will be my first scan, my first wasn't supposed to happen for 2 more weeks.

Has anyone experienced anything like this and what was the result?

No it definitely wasn't the placenta. It sounded like another heartbeat. It was in a different location and she seemed sure but I find it hard to believe I could be carrying twins. It's the waiting that's so hard.

    Thanks for the well wishes.

It's very frustrating but she did try to get me in earlier. Monday was the first appointment the could get me in for.

As expected, my sleep is disturbed not to mention the frequent pee parties throughout the night. I will *try* to calm down and wait for the big reveal on Monday.

Wow, I haven't had it happen before either, but I just wanted to wish you luck for Monday. I know it's hard having to wait, but it's nearly the weekend so Monday will be here before you know it!

Wishing you all the best, I look forward to hearing about your scan

    Good luck for Monday.
I ahve not heard it happen before, but then again with the number of people who have 12 weeks or earlier "dating scans" I guess it gets picked up then.

    Thanks everyone.

I've found some posts around the internet suggesting this has happened to a few others and their results were singleton pregnancies. I've pretty much convinced myself it is just one as I don't feel like I'm carrying twins but I guess I'll have to wait till Monday to get the confirmation either way.

Whatever happens, I'll be finding out the sex of the baby which is exciting as I have all girls and am hoping for a boy.

I will update you all on Monday.

Just wanted to wish you luck for Monday. I hope you get some sleep in between now and then. You poor thing having to wait that long to find out. When I was pregnant with my twins the Dr never really used the dopler much on me, I guess it might usually be a bit hard to pick up two individual heartbeats, but I guess you never know!!!

Can't wait to hear the news.
