I went to Early Image about 18 months ago.

It ended up being quite frustrating for me, as the first time I went they couldn't get any good shots of my baby. So they told me to go for a walk and come back. This was a bit annoying because 3 members of my family had come along to see it too. So we went back and they tried again - and still couldn't get any decent views of the baby. So we ended up setting another appointment. This time it was just my DH & I that went along. And the same thing happened!!! the first session didn't come up with any results, so had to go for a walk. The second shot got some photo's.

I guess I was also a little disappointed in the set up of it all too. They gave the impression there was a 'viewing room' for visitors... but everyone was in the same room, and there was just one couch. So I was in the centre of the room, with my belly bared to all - and there was no privacy at all. My poor dad must have felt a bit uncomfortable. The other thing that annoyed me was before we started on the scan, they said "so, do you know the sex of the baby??" - they asked this in front of my family - and at the time DH & I knew, but they didn't. We had wanted to make it a bit of a 'surprise' for them - but it was announced in the waiting room and I was very disappointed with that.

I had found out about the 4D scans at the big baby expo in Melbourne, and I was only about 8 weeks pregnant at the time. They said if I signed up then - they were offering a special on their "gold package" which was the DVD, pictures & a polyeurathane picture frame of the best photo. But when I went for the scan, they had dropped that particular package - and although the cost was the SAME - all I got was the DVD, and some little pictures on their website. If I wanted the pictures on a disk or hard copy - I had to pay even more for it.

During my pregnancy - after I had had the 4D scans at Early Image, my doc referred me to a scanning place in Balaclava, as he thought I had thyroid problems.
They did private 4D scans, and it is not as 'fancy' as early image... but after talking to the guy there - they seemed a lot more obliging then Early Image. He said I would get lots of pictures and the DVD. And they were quite a bit cheaper then Early Image.

I also had a couple of 4D scans when I was getting my 20 week images, and it didn't cost any extra at all!!!! (that was at Monash private ultrasound)... but that was for the medical scans - so not pleasure scans.

I'm pregnant again, and I can't get back into the Monash u/s place (they're fully booked)... and the place I'm going doesn't have a 4D machine
Because this is my 2nd, I wasn't planning on going to a private 4D clinic. But I will see how I feel in a month or two. Maybe I will check out the prices at the Balaclava clinic.

I would love to hear where you are going - and your experiences...
