I had an anterior placenta with DS1 - it is nothing to worry about at all - a large percentage of placentas are anterior and it is of no risk or issue at all. the placenta just masks the feeling of movements and bub is hitting into the placenta... so you cant feel as much. so dont be worried if the mvts are lighter feeling and you dont feel them til later.
I dont know re the low laying placenta - i didnt have this but it is not related to anterior placenta as far as i know. i am sure others will have info as this is also reasonably common.
Enjoy your pregnancy!
i had an anterior placenta with DD2 and to be honest i felt the kicks the same as i did with DD1!! i felt them a few weeks later than i did with DD1 (17 weeks) maybe 18-19 weeks but other than that it was the same! i was dissapointed when they told me it was anterior as i thought i wouldnt feel as much but i did
I have an anterior placenta and started feeling kicks at 17 weeks, by 20 weeks they were full on and quite painful even! I am quite petite though so perhaps that's why I felt them earlier than we were told we might... Hubby felt him from the outside around 19 weeks I think
I know of lots of girls with and without anterior placentas that haven't felt a thing until around 25 weeks, I think everyone is different, try to relax about it, lots of people have anterior placentas, they are quite common and usually there aren't any problems, of course we have to be informed of the possibilities of complications that COULD occur but I think this is just a precaution so you're aware and every anterior placenta I have heard of bar one haven't had any problems.. The one friend who did have dramas had low lying placenta and had a healthy baby boy via C/S so it's a happy story after all... Try not to stress but do your research, be informed and keep in touch with your Dr, I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about, the great majority of anterior placentas turn out just fine, but just like anything, get your knowledge about you, try ot relax and take it as it comes
I have an anterior placenta too, I started feeling movements at about 17weeks and DH has been able to feel them since about 20/21weeks.
One thing I have noticed is I seem to get kicked like almost in the bum sometimes don't remember that with DS1&2.
Congratulations and hope you have a happy healthy pg
I have had an anterior placenta with both my DD and this pregnancy.
With my DD's pregnancy I felt the first movements at about 22 weeks and DH felt them at about 24 weeks. I never felt her kick as such, I felt headbutts in the ribs, bum shuffles down low and lots of hiccups.
This pregnancy I was a little disappointed to find out that I had an anterior placenta again as I really wanted to feel my baby kick, however it has been so different. I felt the first kicks at about 17 weeks and they progessed so fast, she is such an active baby and I feel her move alot and real kicks to! DH was able to feel the first kicks at about 21 weeks, possibly earlier if he was patient enough to sit and wait .
I hope that you are able to feel your babies kick nice and strong, it really does differ from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy.
My placenta was anterior with DD as well & I felt movement at around 19 weeks. I acutally had my ultrasound in the morning, was told it was anterior then felt movement that night!! Funnily enough DH felt the kick at the same time I did, he just happened to have his hand on my belly at the time
I had an anterior placenta too, I started feeling flutters around 22-23 weeks, but they quite quickly developed into kicking & pushing by around 25-26 as he got bigger & stronger, which was when DH could feel them too. I used to play games with him when he was active, pushing in places to see if I could get a reaction.
hi, im 21 weeks pregnant, i also have an anterior placenta and felt his first kick at 17 weeks and 4 days, now he never stops.
I wouldnt worry, if you cant feel the kicks you will prolly still feel the baby rolling around.
goodluck
Thanks ladies,
I feel a little more positive than beofre. I googled ( yes now I kow never ever google anything to do with a medical condition ! ).
I was more concerned about the previa aspect. As i am having a CS anyhow i think it should be ok.
My ob said I will have little one about 2 - 4 weeks early anyhow so this also eases my mind.
