Usually thats the last. Except if a problem arises. I had another one done at 35.5 wks because I looked small, so we checked bubs size. But if you don't have any complications, there is no reason to have another one.
All the best
I asked my midwife this last week because I wanted another one to see bubbie and double check she's a girl But apparently they only schedule another if complications arise.
If you don't get a dating scan early on, they usually only give you one at 19 weeks!
Hi Bec
The 19 week scan is usually the last however my Ob does a quick one at each appointment I have and she also wants me to have another big one later in my pregnancy to check my placenta for medical reasons.
It should be the last unless there are complications - so I hope it is the last for you!
I had a scan around 30w because the midwife was so worried that I was "too small" she got me in for an emergency one a week later. While I knew I was OK, it isn't much fun sat listening to her demanding an urgent scan as there could be problems... it's hard to not think there are even when you know better at that stage!
(I had 5 scans, 9w to date, 13w for NF, 19 for abnormalities, 21 for a double-check because they weren't sure about the heart, 30 for sizes. With the panic they try to put into you, stopping the scans at 19w would have been nice! They didn't even want me to see the 30w one and didn't give me a picture so, to me, there was no point to that scan - I had to ask to see his little face on the screen and the sonographer wasn't impressed with that request.)
In my first PG I had another at 34 weeks as I hadn't felt much movement for a few days. Then again at 41+ weeks (to check it was ok to let me go longer without induction).
In this PG, I had another at 27 weeks because baby was moving around too much at the 20wk scan for the heart measurements to be done. It was also suggested that I might need another around 36 as my GP thinks I'm measuring a bit largish. However since I'm having a CS that won't be necessary.
