    bad dreams

    Hi guys,

its lesh here, I had to set up as Lesh2 -
We had our 19wk scan two weeks ago, all is well, resisted the urge to find out what we are having but have been studying the dvd like crazy - think we can see boy bits there! The baby was facing out in the scan so the images of the baby looked very ailen like (that shounds awful I know!) I was really dissapointed as I thought I would get to see what the baby's profile would be like but hubby I and bascially froze in silence from shock.

since then I have been having nightmares about it and that the baby will come out looking like that! Has this happened to anyone else?

It's very common to have repeated bad dreams in PG, it seem to magnify your deepest fears (I had a whole series of very graphic ones relating to having to protect my baby from a particular very scary threat). The reason the US looks like that is because this early bubs has not put on a lot of body fat, and the sonographer is concentrating more on skeletal features so it's not always the best resolution for seeing the actual face. It's strange tho that the sonographer didn't actually talk you through this, when they give you photos only (instead of DVDs) they are more selective I think in the actual pictures they take. Try not to fret and just enjoy that you have had confirmation that your bub is healthy and kicking around in there!

    Hi Leah

I have read it everywhere that it's very common to have vivid dreams during pregnancy and more so in the second trimester!

Rest assured that your little one in there is doing just fine and will be out to meet you soon.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy

    Hi Lesh,

I have to admit that vivid dreams are truly apart of the pregnancy. This whole week, I've been having vivid dreams, well, more like nightmares so I only get a few hours of sleep. But my doctor did mentioned to me that it is normal. As for your baby, don't worry, your baby is well protected in there!
