    braxton hicks at 4months??

hello - i am 16 weeks today and all week i have been getting what i can only describe as braxton hicks????

My uterus goes very hard and i can feel all of it very easily like it has swollen up..... no pain with it and it is more often when i need to pee but not always.

Is it usual to have this at 4 months? has anyone else?

    Hi Braidy,

I too had Braxton Hicks Contractions early in my pregnancy, if i remember correctly i think they first started around 14 weeks, but mine were sometimes quite painful which is normal too. My dr told me that it was fine, some people will get them and some wont. I had them all the way through, though less around 36/37 weeks then they got more often from there on till DS was born.

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Don't be too concerned I had them as well from about 18 weeks onwards.I never new they were BH until I started antenatal classes and the Midwife asked if anyone had been experiencing them and described how they felt.

I thought it was the positioning of the bubs..LOL.Towards the end of my pregnanct they become more frequent and breathtaking.

Yes I am 17 weeks and getting this feeling. I thought is'nt it too early. Its like the belly button pops out and feels uncomfortable. Feels like the baby has moved positions too.... Oh the joys of pregnancy.....

Is anyone getting like shooting pain in the groin area?

BH do normally start that early, but with first pgs many women don't notice them until later, or not at all. With subsequent pgs they can be stronger and more painful and are usually noticed earlier.

caz1971 don;t even go there with the shooting pains in the groin.I carried twins and twin A (now named Vashti) was so low down I could feel her head move on my leg when I sat down.

Everytime I got up I had shooting pains in the nether regions.Oh the joys of pregnancy.

I thought BH at 16 weeks was unusual too so i'm glad to hear that someone else has had it. Mine haven't been painful, just my tummy goes all hard and lumpy. (only happens when I'm DTD though)

Oh yeah, i've been getting this for a few weeks now. Didn't realise what it was a first, but now figure it must be my uterus. Thankfully no pain! Oh, and DTD does seem to set it off too

oh good god I am so glad I came online and found this thread!

Spent the better part of 3 hours stuck in a chair, too painful to get up and walk around! Have had 3 days of what I can only describe as tightening. Sorta feels like I need to wee, but don't, and like something is pushing to the outside, even if I know bub is further "in". Have been getting the shooting pains in groin sometimes too!
