    Cervix question...

So I was a very silly girl at 1am this morning (overtired too) and checked my cervix for the first time since somewhere around 6-7wks which was the last time I checked it (I've always been curious about the changes that happen to the cervix during pregnancy lol but haven't checked it since then due to starting to loose bits of plug from 9wks, apparently cervix was still closed at an emergency scan due to pain and slight spotting at 17wks 5d), and it felt very soft, open and grainy for the 2cm of it I could feel, like having a gravel rash on some part of your body is the only way I can describe it.
On wednesday last week we were down the street and in the space of around 6 minutes I had 3 pretty strong contractions that had me doubled over for about 30 seconds each time (I have an irritable uterus so it isn't uncommon for me to get them every 15 minutes or so on a bad day), anyway I haven't had any contractions since but right after these contractions I went to the toilet and had *TMI* a huge 50 cent piece sized glob of mucous that looked like plug, when we got home I went to the toilet again and had another big piece of mucous, since then bub has been feeling like it's really low (right behind my pubic bone nowinstead of just below my belly button like it was before these 3 contractions), I've been getting stinging pains through my cervix and vagina, it feels like bub is sitting right on or in my cervix when it moves (I can feel the fiddling of hands/arms/head right down in there and kicks are now right inside my left hip most of the time) and I've been losing clear and thick yellow mucous, there's no smell though, peeing a lot more than normal and sometimes I don't even feel like I have to pee on the toilet and it trickles a bit, yet my undies/pad aren't wet.

I have my 20wk scan tomorrow morning so I'll ask the sonographer to check my cervix then, but I was wondering if I should be worried about all this?

My cervix had been normal, slightly open (as usually happens after multiple births/pregnancies) with no bumps/pebbly feeling last time I checked or even when I went back to charting to prevent pregnancy about 3 months after DD was born.

Sorry if this is a bit all over the place but I've been a bit stressed about it today especially with all the really low movements and stinging pains recently.
Someone tell me I'm just being silly please I don't see my OB until March 2nd either.

Go to hospital or ring your birthsuite/midwife hun, reassurance an support is A MUST RIGHT NOW!!! Infection sounds high risk in your case. I wouldn't wait, if it were me, the scan tomorrow would simply be added reassuarnce.

Thanks for replying hun, unfortunately I have no phone or way of getting to the hospital at the moment so it will have to wait until I go there for the scan in the morning, thank goodness I was able to get the first appointment of the morning so I don't have to wait. I started losing bits of plug with my DD at 22wks and apparently everything was fine then, and my OB and midwife haven't been concerned about it starting so early this time just said to keep an eye on it between appointments and only go in if I was bleeding or in severe pain from the ovarian cyst/irritable uterus.
Argh I wish things were easy this time, last time I could get to hospital whenever I needed to but with DH working so much now I just don't have any transport any more and the ambo's won't take both kids in the ambulance with me which I asked about last time I had bad pain (only a few weeks ago).

I'd strongly suggest you stop checking your cervix, as that introduces infection.

Did you go in? I'd also say don't check your cervix when pregnant, what's the point? Especially if you have an irritable uterus. Hope you're okay

Haven't checked it again, went into maternity around 1am as I started having some gushes, midwives did a few tests and said it wasn't amniotic fluid. Had the scan this morning and it shows I am leaking amniotic fluid but cervix is still closed (thank god for that!), there is fluid between the sac and cervix and fluid in the cervix but no visible break in the sac, cervix is 32mm shorter than it was at the last scan I had at 17wks 5d though.
So now I just have to wait until I see my OB on the 2nd of March and try to take it as easy as possible - back to couch rest for me once again.

Thanks hun, I will. Just panicking a little bit about the leakage but I'm trying to stay positive.
