Did your scan show baby was behind?

I know my title makes no sense! im just wondering if anyones baby measured small because i had a scan at 14+1 and it showed baby was exactly 14+1 now i had a scan i should be 17wks exactly but scan person said baby was only 16wks. Im not too worried as i saw babys heart beating fine and was so much bigger compared to last scan, was moving around and has even changed position since last scan which is all good, i just dont like being put back a week, even though i know i am 17 weeks technically, i like the scans to show babys up to date!

the first weeks babies generally grow at the same rate, after that, babies grow at different rates, genetics and other factors also come into play, i certainly wouldnt be worried, you or your husband may be short etc.. all these things contribute to bubs size

i wouldnt worry about it too much. more than likley ur bub is just smaller then average babies at 17 weeks atm. He/she has plenty of time to catch up. congrats on your pregnancy and try not to stress too much. the earlier scan would have been more accurate anyway.

Yes I was thinking I was giving birth to a turtle. I had a late scan and they said Head is small, tummy is BIG, legs short. They said measurements were varying between 22-26 weeks????? HOnestly I nearly died. Anyway, she was totally average and about 51cm long!!

My scans were all exactly on par and then the 24w scan said the baby was 10 days behind or something. I was worried about that but my OBGY said US aren't always correct and it didn't mean anything. He did a quick scan in his office and said the baby actually looked bigger then 24 weeks! Don't babies grow in spurts anyway? Try not to worry sweet. If you are still worried, ask for a growth scan at your next US

    Ill try

Well im not too worried because i saw baby moving and heart was beating and the head is huge! Just like the dad haha. Looked so much bigger compared to last time i couldnt believe it and the fact it had somersaulted around to face the other way must be pretty active in there. I guess time will tell knowing my luck now itll have a major spurt and be like a 9lb baby!

The problem with scans is that they work on averages. Who's average anyway? We aren't all on the 50th percentile as fully grown adults, genes take over and it takes a big baby and a small baby to make an average baby.
