Cool The dreaded stretch mark.. **BOW BOW**

So i was just curious as to what lotion or remedy you ladies used to ward off stretch marks, i for one use Palmers "Stretch mark" lotion. Though i am yet to get a stretch mark, altho i know it is bound to happen sooner or later, i was wondering if any of you used a certain type that you absolutely swore by. The stuff i use is good, i suppose. Just wondering if there was any "magic" ones out there :P

first time I didn't use a thing, & I don't have any stretch marks....woot. This time, hmmmm not sure but I'm sure I'll get some (...or lots LOL). Though I did use Nivea skin firming lotion, have done for some time.

I to never used anything 1st time round, though i did use bio-oil in the bath 2nd time. I got 3 stretchmarks down on my lower part of the belly, but only pink ones, not the deep thick red ones. They say that there is no-magic creme, its basically up to our body if its going to happen. My mum never got stretch marks eithe, and she had twins.

Good luck hun, hope you don't get any either!!!

I'm only 15 weeks with my first pregnancy, so can't really say whether it will work or not, but my mum, nan and grandma and 3 of my aunts all used normal sorbelene moisturiser right throughout their pregnancies and not one of them got stretch marks. I've been putting it on every night after my shower just in case it is a miracle cream. lol. I've heard though that it can be hereditary, getting stretch marks, so maybe the family just has good genes. Not sure how true that theory is though.

From what I understand there is no magic remedy (sorry!) Unfortunately you are either going to get them or not regardless of what you use. It really comes down to genetics. My mum never got them (3 pregnancies including twins) and I didn't get them with my pregnancy. However, bio oil is really nice even if it isn't a magical solution.

Totally agree with the others - there is no magic cream. But wouldn't that be nice! I think if you're destined to get them then there is no way of preventing them.

They say stretchmarks are genetic and if you suffered from them during puberty then you're more likely to get them during pregnancy. My sister, mum and I have never had a problem with stretchmarks but I do massage either Bio-Oil or a normal body moisturiser into my belly and hips just to ease the horrible feeling of stretching skin.

I used everything you could think of, palmers, lucas' paw paw ointment, vitamin e cream, olive oil. Everything. And i look like i got into a knife fight with an octopus.
I asked the doc and he said, it's genetic, if your family has a history on either sides, chances you will too.

i have more stripes than a tiger or a watermelon.. in fact my belly looks like one whole scar-stripped mess. Tried everything.. firming lotions, rose hip oil, cocoa butter-palmers, body shop butters. In the end it comes down to genetics... i had stretch marks since puberty so sucks 2 b me! haha
In 10yrs or so it will be good... my mum had (uber stretch marks)twins (after having 3 kids/pregnancies) 13yrs later shes game enough to wear a bikini

I suffered anorexia when i was 15-17 years old, and i was only 32 kilo.

I then started getting better and ballooned like there was no tomorrow lol. By 20, i was 82 kilo, went from being 145 cms tall to 177 cms tall, and went from having NO boobs to a D cup.

My titties and thighs suffered marks the most. but over a few years they have finally faded into light silver marks. Im scared this time they will reappear, or i will get marks heaps bad.

when do marks usually appear? around how many weeks?

id say start using your cream as soon as possible.
I honestly started using cream as soon as i knew i was pregnant. i wouldnt say im prone to stretch marks but growing up i flucuated in weight really bad. (i was anarexic or anything, but i left home and couldnt afford to eat so i didnt LOL.. and then when i got into a better living environment i put all my weight back on but then i met DH and quit smoking so i put on a little more weight) so i have stretch marks on my hips (just the white ones)
My GF whi is also pregnant got strecth marks right away (i think she was like 12 weeks or something) and i have gotten any yet. So it just depends on your body.
I have used a few dif creams, i think they are all basically the same its just to keep ur skin moisterised so it doesnt dry out or anything and that sall u cabn really try to do.
I get bored with the smell after awhile and switch creams

first time mummy stretch marks can appear at any week i suppose... its different for everyone. I know of some skinny mums who at 20weeks arent even showing however i was showing a bump waaaaay earlier.
