Feel like I've been kicked...down there!

    Hi

I just have a quick question...has anyone else had the feeling like they have been kicked or rammed against a pole down there?
I'm nearly 23wks and this is my second baby, I dont know if its just the weight of the baby and the extra weight I have put on or if its because my pelvic floor is not as strong after having my first baby..or it could be something else!!!
I know after having Aaron for a few weeks after I felt very sore down there like most women do after a VB and it would ache if I was standing for too long or did to much walking....this feels alittle bit the same as that.
I have had a look to make sure its not V veins as did see that mentioned in another thread and the person said it was very painful, so its not that!
I dont really want to say anything at the clinic incase its something that would stop me being able to birth there as its only for very low risk births.
    Any imput would be great

    Thanks

I would say it's more than likely bubs putting pressure there. I know the feeling you're talking about and even now every now and then I feel a bit sore if I stand too long. However, if you're really worried, do get it checked. I hope it stops hurting for you though.

i had that too, and assumed it was just my pelvis spreading... it has gotten much better now. it was a sort of temporary thing. i still feel the pain sometimes, if i get out of bed too fast or when i'm walking my dog if she pulls on the lead...but let me assure you it has gotten much much better, so i hope it does for you soon too

Thanks...so is it just the baby going down in the pelvis, my first baby never engaged so never felt this in the first pg. It does happen when I get out of bed quite quickly and also get quite a big pain across my tummy as if I've pulled a muscle.

Phew - I am glad it is normal. I get a stitch if I move too fast, and have had a sore tailbone - early I know but I have been doing lots of sitting in a car lately

Oh i've been having kinda that feeling. Actually i kinda think it's like it's swollen and achey sometimes. I wondered if it was something to do with the damage that was done down there with my last birth? i had pretty bad tearing (back and front). it's on my list of questions to ask my Ob on Monday!

I have just been trying to take it a bit more easy which has helped loads, fingers crossed that this week DH wont have to take a day off work to look after Aaron which he has had to do a few times when its been really bad.
Only thing now is that poor DH is left to paint and lay wood floor through the rest of the house as I'm banned from doing anything other than dishes and loading the washing machine!
Thanks very much for all the feedback, pleased I'm not alone in my aches and pains!

I'm getting this! And describing it as being kicked down there is exactly right! LOL. I've just assumed it's my tired old body. Hehe.. bit of wear & tear from last time. I too feel a bit swollen & achey.. mostly first thing in the morning, and turning over in bed seems to be the worst.. goes from the back of the tops of my thighs, right through. It eases through the day.. altho I did a stupid thing the other day - shaved my legs in the shower.. and holding my legs up to shave seemed to kick off the achiness for the rest of the day.

I feel like I'm feeling muscles and tendons that I didn't know existed! I never had any of this discomfort the first time either. Glad to hear it might not be something that will get worse as the pg progresses!

Hope it's easing up for you Sus.

I have had that feeling with my other pg. Also with the back/leg pain the pelvis separates in preparation for the birth and sometime the pain in the back and legs can be from that. I could hear crunching every time i rolled over in bed you can get a support belt to hold it all together, but all sounds pretty normal.

I'm the same...more pressure than with #1 and only the odd bit of pain when I got into an awkward position.

I started getting pain "down there" a few weeks ago, mainly when i took the dogs for a walk, like Sus it felt as if someone had kicked me really hard. Now in the past couple of weeks it's gotten alot worse but it's moved to my tailbone area(think that's what it's called lol?) and now it's moved into my groin area - i feel like i've done a million inner thigh crunches. The physio has given me a support bandage which helps a little but some days by the end of the day i can hardly walk, i've heard that acupuncture can help so i'm going to give that a try next week. This is my first pregnancy so i wasn't sure if this was normal or not - i just hope it passes soon!

    Hi Girls
The pain you are feeling is caused by a hormone called relaxin. This hormone causes all your joints and ligaments to relax and looses in order to make birth easier. You have a joint in the middle of your pubic bone that normally does not move. However under the influence of relaxin it can and often does become loose. The joint is then able to move causing the ends of the bones to rub against each other and this is what is causing the pain. If it is very bad you can get a support belt that can often help. Try to move slowly and keep your knees together. Panadol can also help.

Thanks Alan - I figured it was the relaxin.. must be very 'relaxed' this time! LOL. I have a definite preggo waddle in the mornings these days!

Oh - and keeping my knees together - I'll tell DH you told me to! LMAO
