    First flutters

    Hi everyone

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and last Saturday I felt definite flutters for the first time, but I haven't felt them since.
Is this normal? Should I be worried?
I guess I just need some reassurance, I know it's only early and people don't feel anything for another few weeks but the fact that I did feel something and then nothing is starting to worry me a little.
    Thanks for listening.

    Hello

Yes i would say its normal, since you are only just starting to feel the flutters for the first time.. you probably don't notice it most of the time.

I too was worried when my baby got a little quiet. But all the ladies on here reassured me that its normal for baby to have some quiet days.

How exciting for you.. it wasn't long ago that i felt my first flutters and now he is kicking like a football player.. lol

good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I'd say its pretty normal... Your bubs still has lots of room to float around in there - I was told it probably depends on where s/he is as to whether you can feel movements. I didn't feel anything until about 19 weeks, I think, and then it was only every now and again, mostly in the evenings.
All the best for your pregnancy, Janine

Thanks for your reassurance guys, you've put my mind at ease a little.
I have my 16 week check up tomorrow so I'll be able to hear my little bub's heart beat!
    Take care and thanks again

    Hi Adkins81

I got my BFP only a few days after you (16 April) so I'm about the same weeks along as you. I've felt flutters a few times now - usually at night when all is quiet and you're relaxed a little more than usual. I havent felt any for a few days now and I mentioned this to me obstetrician yesterday and he said this is normal. Exciting, huh?

yay for you on feeling flutters so early.
It's perfectly normal for you to only feel them occasionally, when your bubs has so much room to move.
The early on ones I felt were normally when i was bent over squishing bubs a bit, and I got little protests.
You will know once the kicking really starts, and don't forget that bubs does sleep for at least half an hour at a time, so if you don't feel movement, just relax, give it a chance to wake up and then once your about to drift off to sleep yourself, it will start dancing.

    Hi Tony

Yep, it sure is exciting and good to hear that it is quite normal to not feel anything for a few days.
How is your pregnancy going? Are you showing much? I'm not showing much at all for being 16 weeks, nobody believes I'm pregnant!

That's the best sound in the world, isn't it? Hope your appointment goes really well tomorrow.

Ooooh, if you're anything like me you'll need to take your tissues... I cried pretty much every time I heard it, LOL. Pregnancy is so amazing.

    Hi Janine
I spoke with my doctor about such flutters today and she said that regular movement may not be felt up to and even past 20 weeks. I am 19 weeks and was getting concerned but she has said there is nothing to worry about.
Good luck with the scan tomorrow!

    Hi Janine
I too felt definate flutters around the 16 week mark and then nothing at all until Wednesday this week and now he's pretty much kicking regularly every couple of hours. I was really concerned about it but my Ob told me not to worry as bub has a lot of room to move around without you feeling him/her. It is much easier said than done though. All the best for your scan today. Its so exciting hearing the heart beat for the 1st time.

Congrats on feeling the flutters. Don't worry that you don't often feel it especially at the beginning. I felt my first flutters around week 16 and not until twoo weeks ago, I started feeling my baby's kicks. Now, DH can feel the kicks as my bub's getting pretty active! So, don't worry, you will soon enjoy the wonderful movements that are about to come.

Hi there, im 16 weeks (and counting!) and don't think (!) I have felt the baby but sometimes i do feel like a air buble feeling but am not 100% sure if that is just gas and a need to f**rt! which im having a lot of too!

Im anxious to finally feel something too!

Ive started listening to my dream baby cd at nights - does anyone know when the baby can actually hear - I think it might be in the third trimseter so I may be a bit ahead of myself!!

Hi there Adkins, I'm (almost - tomorrow!) 15 weeks pregnant and I have felt flutters and butterflies already - it's not strong but I definately feel it. I must be similar to Tonydayl, mine are mostly at night when I'm relaxed too! I've read that some women can't feel anything until 23 weeks but I've also read stories on women that feel it at 16 weeks! That's so great for you! Enjoy your pregnancy. xx
