same for me! A glass of cold milk usually helps, unless I've got it really bad

For me, it feels like a hot, burning liquid feeling coming up my chest to my throat. It is worse at night when I'm lying down and even worse if I've had something tomatoey (like bolognese) to eat. Gross! I hope you don't get it!

Let me just say, you will know if you vhave heartburn when you get it!!

It feels like your osoephegus is burning with acid (which it is really) right up to your throat).

Just buy a packet of mylanta or rennies and put them in your handbag just in case!!!

    Thanks girls.
I've never had it before and thought that what i was feeling might be what it was. As it turns out, it wasn't that.

Thanks for the advice though. xx

garrr heartburn, i do NOT miss it!!
I agreee with everyone's comments.. definitely lava climbing up your throat, almost to the point where you think its going to make it to your mouth. It's awful, and you won't be able to sleep. You will have to sleep sitting up, none of those heartburn tablets actually do anything really.
Make sure you avoid acidic foods/drinks during those times, eat smaller meals, and try and not eat 4 hrs before bed time.

yeah zantac isn't really worth taking... about as effective as a glass of milk.. just avoid eating big meals, and not too close to bedtime.

I am on Ranitidine 150 mg daily and have found that if I take it first thing on an empty stomach it works great. If I forget and eat breakfast first then I will still suffer although not to the same degree and have to have a couple of doses of Mylanta. On the whole I have found it to be my saviour, I was completely miserable before this medication.

I know some ppl think that slippery elm is not safe during pregnancy ..

but iv spoken to a lot of ppl /dr /health food places/MW etc and done a lot of research on it, its 100% safe during pregnancy ..

the reason that some ppl think its not safe is that years and years ago back in the day - women used to put slippery elm bark into there cervix to try and induce abortion.

IV started taking the tablet form of slippery elm, which i take 3 times a day about 10- 15 mins before food..its so good.it helps a lot .

Im sure it doesnt help as much as medication but i really wanted to try and avoid meds if i could- and the slippery elm is making a differance to me

sometimes i still need some gaviscon or soemthing at night times but i always get it bad at night when i lay down anyway.

U can get it in tablet form , tea, powder and im not sure what else. but its worked for me it soothes ur insides

    Anyway thats my bit
