I had that exact same pain on my left upper back around 30 weeks. It lasted about 1 week and then disappeared. I found it was aggravated if I slept or napped on a soft surface (i.e. our soft couch) and lay on the sore side in bed. It is horrible because it hurts so much, even when you walk. I would try a heat pack if I was you and try sleeping / sitting in a different position than you have been the last couple of days. I hope that yours, like mine, if short-lived. Take care x

thankyou, so glad to hear its normal
Yes its very painful to even walk or sit in a chair.
I also get it worse in my left side, however sleeping, sitting, walking or twisting can cause it to get worse and worse...its impossible to relieve. Laying on my back is the best way to sleep, but then i get aches in my lower back and legs from bubs weight on my abdomen

Why not try a massage to see if it helps relieve the pain? There are heaps of physios who can do massage and stretching when you are pregnant, and I'm sure it would at least just feel wonderful while you are there!

I've found a pillow under my knees works wonders when I want to sleep on my back - seems to flatten out the arch under my lower back and give me better support.
