thread: How much weight have you put on?

Yep I take my little dog whenever I go for my power walk

I can understand some people do not want to put on to much weight so they do not have to lose a lot after the birth, because lets face it, most of us care about our appearance but if you eat healthy and still put on weight then I wouldn't worry, its when you eat a lot of junk and put the weight on and all that which is when I would be a bit concerned. But we all do what we think is best for out body and babies

Does anyone else wonder how big their baby will be and what determines the size they will be? I'm a twin so was only 4pound when I was born but my partner was 10.5pounds so I'm curious to see how big my bub will be because I am only tiny!

Yes i am curious about how big bub will be because a 10 pounder may do alot of damage haha.

my hubby was 6 pount 13 and i was around the same born.. so does it go off what you were born or just what you eat.

i have heard that a later scan can give an indication of how big bub will be at birth.

(dont worry i wonder how big my bub will be)

Well I was always told it has a lot to do with how big the parents were? But then have heard it has a lot to do with how big the Mum was...

Although my cousin was only about 8Pounds and her partner around 7 and they just had their first baby and he was 10pound 10ounces! He was 2 weeks overdue though.

I was told that my 38 week scan will be to estimate bubs size, so I'll be looking forward to that day.

Yeh mel be looking forward to the 38 week scan also.. so you must be due around the 5 july.

im due the 17th.. cant wait.. hoping for a 7 pounder.. i think a 6 pounder is too much to ask and 8 is big.. haha although they say there isnt much of a difference between giving birth to a 6 pounder or 9 pounder.. its all hard.

Yeah I am due 7th July

I don't mind the size of the baby as long as he/she is healthy.

My cousins baby was very tiny even though he was 10pounds, he just had a little extra pudding on him

Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk about anything

    Weight gain - 2nd pregnancy

    Hi there,

I am 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Currently have gained approx 3-4kgs. My normal pants still fit and do up, and most of my shirts, although the belly is getting in the way and have had to buy some new ones, new bras also. Think the weight gain so far has been in the breasts alone! lol

I gained a lot with my 1st pregnancy, over-ate! I started at 49kgs with him, and when i went into labour I weighed approx 73kgs!! I got back down to 51kgs through exercise.

I am hoping running around after my toddler and not over-eating or having junk food like my first pregnancy, that I wont gain as much weight.

I have also put on a similar amount - 3.5 - 4 kilos. I am 21 weeks pregnant. i don't feel like my eating habits have changed that nuch. I am pretty sure most of the weight is around my stomach and boobs. I am curious to find out how much i put on altogether in this pregnancy as I was fairly skinny to begin with. Ideally i dont want to have to buy new clothes after the baby comes but i guess as long as the baby is healthy i will be happy.

This may seem like its not related to this thread although is related to weight gain.. how do you know wwhat will fit after u have had bub in hospital???
I agree with you me 83 i am currently trying to gather things to put in my hospital bag.. i was going to get some bond relax pants and some tops to wear in hospitall currently im getting by in my normal clothes except around my tummy i need pants with an elastic band.
i have heard when your in hospital your tummy goes to the stage it was at around 4-5 months which would mean that if i dont gain too much then i can still get by with some stretchy pands and tops. i dont want to live in pjs in hospital!!

    any suggestions would be good.

Yeah that sounds about right, from my experience with my first labour.

Any stretchy skirts & the bonds pants are really great too (soft & comfy!) perfect when you have just had a baby. Normal tops should fit you again, but keep in mind that when your milk comes in your breasts increase dramatically in size, so for some people that may prevent them wearing their normal shirts straight away.

I would definately go for comfort post-birth though and def the bonds pants a must, they can be slept in or walked around in during the day etc.

I'm glad this thread was started as i've been so curious about weight gain.

I started this pregnancy at 80kg. I was sick from 8-18 weeks, and now at 22 weeks I've only gained 2.5kg although from about 11-12 weeks I no longer fit into any of my pre-pregnancy pants.

As I was overwight to start with my Ob said she would be happy if I didn't gain any weight at all which I can honestly say, did not make me very happy. All in all I think I'm doing ok. I'm eating pretty much whatever I like, with Ice-cream being a MASSIVE craving of mine!

I went on the preg calculator website which told me I'd put on 6.8kg, so I'm interested to see how acurate that is!

i have heard during labour that you will loose some fluid and blood which will mean u will loose weight in hospital.. if that helps.

mind you this is my first bub but my sister inlaw lost like 10 kgs in hospital.

i agree would love to know more bout the whole weight gain thing..

i don't think there is any set amount of weight you should or shouldn't gain. from 17-25weeks i gained 2.5kg (the first gain after losing about 10kg to start out) from 25-29 weeks, i lost half a kilo. go figure! baby is definitely growing and so is my tum, so i must be losing it from other parts of me... i was bigger to start with, so no one is concerned with the loss.

the average gain is about 6-13kg i think, but it really is variable depending on what happens in your circumstances. we had bushfire here the weekend before Black Saturday, and i'll admit in the weeks since then, my eating habits have deteriorated compared to first tri, but i still managed to lose weight in that time, so i'd say it's about your metabolism (and that of the bubba!)

With regards to the hospital clothes.... I totally agree about the pyjamas and wanting to be able to wear proper clothes. I am thinking stretchy things also, and probably will also have some maternity clothes that aren't too big as they should still be comfy also.....
