I have read to also -

    - sleep with you head raised,
    - eat a light meal in the evening,
    - don't lay down after eating, esp in the evening,
    - go for a nice, easy and gentle walk after eating to help with digestion,
    - sleep on your left side,
    - milk, milk, milk,
    - cut out acidic foods as mentioned,
-don't bolt your food down, take your time eating.

Hope that helps. I have 1-2 Rennie at bedtimes and for the first few hours sleep with two pillows....and a pillow under my feet some nights to combat restless legs! Not very comfy!

Whoever originally suggested fruit tingles, ou are a legend!!! My heartburn is odd in that I only get a burning sensation in the back of my throat & a feeling like I have food stuck in my throat so nothing else really works. The fruit tingles were an almost instant fix! Now I just have to figure out how to get away with eating them & not sharing with Zander

With the milk thing, it does work but you may find that your heartburn comes back a while afterwards. Milk has lactic acid so that can give you heartburn anyway. Perhaps soy milk or rice milk would be better?

When I was preg, my GP told me to take mylanta, he said it's the safest medication to take while you're pregnant.

Fruit juice is a killer, I had to stop drinking it as well. And tomatos (which are a fruit as well, but you know what I mean).

I ate bread a lot, like at night i'd get up and eat a piece of bread to 'soak up' the acid, sort of thing. I found that helped. Sleeping while propped up with pillows can help, but you might find that by the end of your pregnancy, You're surrounded by pillows EVERYWHERE! There's the heartburn pillows, the tummy support pillows, the hip support pillows . . .
