How regular does you bub kick/move?

Was interested in how often you feel movement/kicks from your baby?

I didnt feel anything til 20 weeks, and now, i feel it constantly through the day. I was concerned as to why it was moving around so often, and my doc said as long as you feel it once every 12 hours, everything is alright.

But i feel it every ten minutes on most days. Sometimes it is a defined kick, other times, more a turning movement.

Please shed some light on your experiences.

As you know from our BB group I have been feeling this bubs movements for a while now.

Its not a constant all the time thing I guess it depends on bubs position (facing in or outwards) and whether bub is resting or not. LIke you I get a variety of feelings from stronger kicks and punches to a rolly feeling.

I wouldn't be concerned if bub was moving heaps hun that is a very reassuring thing, I would be concerned if I felt nothing for a long time.

If bub goes quiet try to cough a few times this often gets my bub wriggling.

I've been feeling bubs move since 17 weeks. Most often in the evening when I'm just relaxing.

I haven't felt any movement though in the last 3 days or so. Does anyone think this is reason to worry??

Soulful, your baby could be faced inwards so all the movement goes inside rather than to the outside. If you are worried call your OB and get them to check all is ok. There is no such thing as being too careful when it comes to your baby.

doc said to feel for a kick or movement once every 12 hours. Maybe your bub is kicking whilst you are sleeping.
Im not sure if 3 days is a long time, do you feel any movements whatsoever?

ive been feeling my little gem move for about 3 weeks.. i feel her all through out the day, and at nigth as well. The last few nights i sprawl on the couch and i gently tickle my belly and she starts poking me like crazy hehe. I dont know if its coincidence or not but its still really awesome. The last few nights ive had a really hard time sleeping, and she's still kicking around at 2 in the morning lol. I think most times i wake her tho through my coughing fits hehe. So i usually try to hold off coz i dont want to startle her.

If i hadnt felt her move for 3 days, i think id at least call my doc, but im such a worry wart lol.

Thanks ladies - I think I'll give it another day and see how we go. Bubs might simply be having a few quiet days.

How amazing is them kicking, though! An absolute miracle.

    Hi First Time Mummy
I don’t agree with your Doc. I suggest that all is normal if you feel 10 movements in 24 hours.

    Soulful
if you have had NO movement in 3 days then it would be a good idea to get things checked. There could be a couple of reasons that you have not felt your baby move as NaeNae said it could be due to the position of your baby it could also be due to the position of the placenta. If your placenta is anterior (at the front of your uterus) then it is quite common not to feel the movements as much as you would if your placenta is at the back of your uterus. Another possibility is that you are getting used to the movements and therefore don’t notice them as much as you did when they first started.

    Hi

Just wondering if people can define what they mean by a "kick" - what the sensation is like. Maybe its just words that are used to the same thing.

While I get plenty of movements i wouldn't describe it as a kick - in the sense of what it feels like on the outside if that makes sense???? Can anyone describe more what they actually feel.

Sorry wierd question i know just wondering what exactly other people feel ..........

    Hi Meadsie
It’s not a wierd question, many people don’t really understand what is meant by a ‘kick’. When the midwife talks about kicks she/he usually means any movement. So, for example, if you feel your baby move position 3 times and he kicks you twice that would be classed as five ‘kicks’

I find a kick is more a one off, harder feeling, in one area.
where as movement is more a bubbly fish swimming feeling, moving all around.

    If that helps lol

Soulful - Oh i hope you go get checked. 3 days is a longtime. We had bad news the other day, one of my bestfriends lost her baby. She was 19wks. She had not felt bub move much, and honestly thought she was worrying herself to much. Sadly baby had passed away. Its made me even more parnoid, and ive done a kickchart up for each day now. My Ob said the same as Alan, 10 movememnts/kicks in 24hrs. Anything less, ring straight away.

First time I felt this little monkey move, I was 15wks - which then became alot more consistant after 19/20wks - I now feel him moving at least once every hour, but I don't mind at all

Soulful - 3 days is a mighty long time, please please go get him/her checked

As the others have said, don't be worried about it being too active, that's a good thing

I have a VERY active baby. It doesn't kick that much, I feel about one decent hard kick each day, but it's constantly rolling over or sticking it's bum and butt out! It likes to tickle me gently with its hands too.

Tarko wasn't always like this though, the movement has really amped up in the past couple of weeks. I feel like it moves more than it stays still these days. I'm sure a lot of the time its just stretching or rolling in its sleep though. Crazy little monkey!
