    Question I have to ask...

At my 20 week scan little man measured 7 days behind, so instead of being 20 weeks he was 19. The lady told me that its nothing to be concerned about unless the difference is more than 10 days.

But i can't help but worry. DD was only every 1 or 2 days behind. She was a small baby. So will that mean he will also be small. When would they be concerned about IGUR? If he doesn't catch up?

I've lost 9kgs this pregnancy even though i have been eating quite a lot, is that something to be concerned about also does that mean something is wrong? Should i be eating more and trying to gain some weight.

Am i just reading too much into it and if the doctors haven't brought it up should i stop worrying??

Any advice or info is appreciated.

Not sure about the weight but did they recommend another scan? I'm sure you could request another one in a few weeks. Have you spoken to the middy or OB about your concerns.. Where all the measurements they took smaller or just some?

Every time I had a scan or was measured all three girls measured out, and quite a few times they were out by two weeks (either ahead or behind). We were never worried by it, and were told not to be because everything else looked normal. and by birth they were all great sizes and nothing was wrong. I would bet that your lil man will measure at a different rate the next time you are measured.

As far as the weight is concerned I lost on average 10kg+ with each pregnancy, but by the end I had put it back on so I was the same weight that I started with. So long as you are eating healthy and what not you should be fine.

Weren't you already 3 days behind (you are actually due Aug 18 by your first scan but decided not to change your dates?) and hence your boy is only 4 days behind, which is well within normal?

Weight loss in pregnancy is very common for women with PCOS and/or insulin resistance. It's due to hormonal changes.

    I lost weight too.

I lost weight, I gained it all back in the 3rd tri. If you have the weight to lose, it's not really a problem. So long as you're not going underweight or anything. And I agree with Skye about the dates. I wouldn't be concerned at all.

Maruscke: i was told by this lady that my due date of the 15th was smack on by my LMP. So yes i was 3 days out at 12 weeks but my due date shouldnt have changed as at 12 weeks its a lee way of 6 days.

I might request another scan later on, make sure he's all good.

Thanks for your words, i was silently freaking out i haven't even talked about this with DP. I'm just so certain something is still going to happen, ahhh i need to accept hes perfectly fine!

Try not to stress LMS (even though I know that's much easier said than done.)

So long as you're not underweight and eating healthily I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. If it will give you reassurance another scan is very reasonable.

Lots of babies seem to grow in spurts so you're little one will likely catch up. After worry about not gaining enough weight I put on more than 4kg in less than two weeks recently and then stayed stable for the next two weeks!

DD was behind at her 20w scan, and at her 22+5w. She wasn't declared IUGR until 25w.

The weight loss is only something to be worried about if you don't have any weight to loose. If you're average, to overweight, and you are still healthy it's really nothing to worry about. I'm sure your doctor/midwife would say something to you if they were concerned, but if it is bothering you ask at your next appointment.

As for bubs measuring 7 days behind. What is really important to remember is that they are measuring from guesses of where the baby end (ITMS?). As in they can't get inside you to actually see how big bubs is so they are measuring off an ultrasound, which is basically a fuzzy picture. So they are guestimating where to put the points to measure from. Granted they are educated in how they do it, and they do it a lot, so their accuracy is pretty good, but at the end of the day it is still just an estimate, which is why they give up to a 2 week leeway. If you'd had another sonographer measure 10 minutes after your first scan, you'd probably get a different measurement yet again.

    I wouldn't stress.

Both of mine were measuring roughly on dates the for the whole pregnancy but at 20 weeks DS's kidneys were slightly smaller than normal. They did a precautionary U/S at 32 weeks to make sure all was ok & they said it can be quite normal to have bubbas or "bits & pieces" measuring a bit behind as they usually have a growth spurt in the following few weeks which catch everything up!

If they were concerned they would have contacted you by now. Try not to stress too much chick. Bring up your concerns at your next appt but I'm sure it'll all be fine!
