    how much water for ultrasound?

Just wondering how much water you guys had to drink for your scans around the 18+ week mark?
Just rung to book in for our u/s, and was told that I had to drink 1litre, but their paperwork says 500mls?

My place says 1L as standard for all u/s, I just had to look this up cos I booked in for the NT scan and their info says 1L for all ultrasounds.

1ltr 1 hour before your scan, but i usually only drank 600ml as if I drank anymore i would be in huge back pain.

i drank 500ml as it said on the form cause they didnt tell me how much when i rang. about 1/4 the way through the scan i had to go let out 10sec worth but i coudlnt stop it so it was like 15sec lol. then towards the end they coudlnt get certain shots so told me to go let it all out and they sid it was perfect and next time not to drink anythign just wat i normally would in the day

When I booked, my place told me 1.5 litres an hour before my appointment. However I only drank 500ml.

When I went for my 12 week scan (at the same place), the sonographer told me a couple of glasses would be enough for me. She said people who drink alot of water have their bladders fill quickly, but they tell everyone 1-1.5 litres because the general population doesn't drink enough water daily.

So I remembered this and only drank enough to make me just need to go to the toilet and at my 18 week scan she said it was perfect

    thanks for all the replies
They say to present with a full bladder for u/s up to 16 weeks, 500mls for 16-28 weeks and 2 glasses of water from 28 weeks+.
We have to drive 45 minutes over a nice bumpy road which, as you could imagine, wouldn't help much LOL.

I wasn't told I had to drink any water before mine! I always got good pic's so far 8wk, 12wk & 19wk. I would have been lucky to have drunk 200ml's.

I think that they just like to see you sitting there with your legs crossed and tears in your eyes

PMSL Alan.....I had a long drive to my scan & after a while I was screaming at DH to stop & let me go to the loo!!! I couldn't handle it, I drank 1L as told but went to the toilet a bit before as I was in agony...didn't make any difference & at one point I too had to go let some more out, he,he.

I only had to drink 50ml (1 glass) of water for my scans!
So much better than the 1L I had to drink for my other pregnancies!

PMSL Alan..... it is funny when there is a room of uncomfortable pregnant women waiting for their scans!!!

I had an ultrasound at 15 weeks and had forgotten to drink any water before it as DF rushed me out of the house as soon as I woke up cos he was worried we'd be late. I ended up having about 150mls of apple juice on the way to the scan and they got a clear view of bubs.
