I started to wear maternity jeans at about the stage you are now. I bought two pairs - one from KMart and one from Big W and still wear them now even though I don't need to - they are just so comfy to wear.
A little later I bought 4 maternity tops & a two pack of Bonds belly bands. I also bought a couple of super stretchy long sleeved T's (not maternity from KMart) that got me right through to giving birth. I found the "better" brands of mat clothing not big enough for my boobs so had no choice but to go with the chain stores.
The belly bands can be worn under your regular tops and can extend some of your regular wardrobe. I did this with some of my stretchy pre pregnancy tops and it worked really well. They are also great for breast feeding after the birth, they cover up your tummy so you don't feel so exposed. This is particularly important if you end up having attachment difficulties and have to breastfeed in front of an assortment of midwives during your hospital stay - so make sure you pack them if you get them. I had to get DF to bring mine in.
While we are at it I loved Hestia Sportstar Maternity bras and started wearing them at the beginning of the 2nd tri. Available at Big W and go up to 20DD should your BB's get rather large during the pregnancy (most bra shops don't stock mat bra's that are that large).
