I seem to remember when i was pregnant if i laid on my back that i had a bulge on the right side but not a whole lot on the left until things got bigger. When things did get bigger though it was always alot bigger on the right side.
Gosh I'm posting in here alot. Can you tell I'm a stresshead who has been sick with to much time on my hands and has been sitting at home worrying.
Anyway back to my thread! I have noticed at times that if I am lying flat on my back that my uterus feels bigger and higher on my right hand side, and if it contracts for whatever reason I literally get a raised bump out on the right hand side of my tummy with almost empty space on the left.
Is this normal - again I don't seem to remember anything like this with Izzy - DH thinks its bubs bum or head on that side but it is more pronounced when it does contract and hence I know it is my uterus not part of bub if that makes sense.
Any ideas?????????/

My belly was lopsided both times - you should see my belly cast from DD! LOL. Both times the side where their bums were positioned was the more prominent side. With DS this is the only place I got stretch marks and it actually felt a bit numb after he was born (is fine now).
I think it's pretty normal depending on how bub is lying.
Hi Tan,
Yep, I get it too. I think it's like your hubby says, probably his head or bum. I get it on my left side when I lay on my back, where my L side is hard and my upper R side is soft and a jelly belly. When bubs was posterior, my belly was quite soft all over, cause his back was against mine. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Hi Tanstar
Yes this is normal. The hard lump is your baby’s head, bum or back and the empty space is the gap between your baby’s knees and arms. Imagine lying on your side and curling up in the foetal position and you should see what I mean. When the midwife feels your tummy this is one of the shapes she/he is looking for so that they can tell you which way round your baby is.
Perfectly normal!!! From one crazy sick stressed preggo lady to another!!!
My little fella loooves to hang on the right side of my belly and when i lay down or even if i stand up- there is a huge lopsided bulge on my right side!! His bum mostly- but i also notice the odd leg moving around too!!
It plays havoc when the dr tries to do the measuring thing on my belly, coz some days he is in the middle and matches perfect cm= weeks- but when hes on the side- i loose cm's and so it never matches- when i was 28 weeks he only measured 24- even though the week beofre he had measured 27!! LoL
He has only just yesterday moved back into the middle of my belly- and now THAT feels strange!!
Thanks so much guys - I don't know why I let myself stress about every little thing like this. It just looked so odd when my tummy contracted yesterday and it was all sticking out on one side and I thought mmm that's odd!!!! This cheeky lil' fella is definately keeping me on my toes already!
I think for me it's baby's head jammed down in my pelvis, always a little bit to the right side. It's incredibly uncomfortable. According to the sonographer I have a deep pelvis, but if it's deep its also not very roomy down there because it can hurt when baby gets down there and I have to admit I tend to gently poke baby until it moves out of that spot.
Tanstar, I've got a lump to my left side, midwife thinks it's due to the position of the baby!
Snoopea
I dont know if its normal but i get it quite alot, especially when i lay on my back, it's like he curls up in a ball on one side. I wouldnt worry though it seems pretty natural to me.
Well 30 weeks and I'm still sooooo lopsided..... At times I can feel bubs head there, still transverse regardless of all the OP I'm doing, but at other times I think he is stting elsewhere but its still feels so empty on the other side... trying not to worryeven though the Dr said all was ok. I have a midwife check on Monday so will have a chat with her.
Hunny, its these boys - they love pitching a tent.
I had the same, very very weird sometimes...
pitching a tent. Nice one!!!!! It is SOOOO odd - I'm going to take a photo of it next time I get a BH to post on here. It is the freakiest thing I've ever seen!

I was bigger on the left side all the way through, it never really bothered me. I think it's pretty normal.
