I'm getting to the stage now where I really need to wear some maternity clothes. Of course I already have some and my girlfriend gave me a few tops which will be okay for the next couple of weeks but I will need more when I get bigger.
I've been to Target and Kmart and their range is very small. I love Pumpkin Patch but they can be quite expensive. Does anyone have any secret places that have some great clothes? I need mainly tops cause I've got some great pants already that will last for ages - I hope!!
Depending on whether you're after dressy or casual stuff, there are 2 maternity shops on North Road, Ormond. I picked up quite a few tops that could go for work or leisure for $15 each. Big W also has some maternity wear (haven't checked lately though).
Pumpkin Patch online have great sales - the stuff is like $20 - $30 for a lot of items
I just bought like 10 items (well, actually got like 20, but sent the rest back as they didn't fit or i didn't like them).. not so into internet shopping, but you can exchange or refund them, and it works out pretty cheap. Target & kmart have a small range (so do Big W).
Otherwise 1 out of the 2 shops on North Rd (don't like the other one, thought it was all full on ugly old granny stuff, and overpriced) is pretty ok, but the stock changes all the time, so its luck on when you go..
Pea in a Pod have a factory in Richmond, but i didn't think the prices were that good for a factory to be honest..
Otherwise i've picked up some good stuff from ebay.
I mainly shop online - google :Ebay, belly basics, essential baby, pumpkin patch (you can return to any store even though you bought it online)........
Also, dont just think maternity. Baby doll tops provide a lot of room for the growing tum tum....or try to buy tops that are made out of jersey material or stretchy material.....
Maternity Mode at Preston is pretty good (and cheap). They have a great range including some of the big names - and often cheaper than going to the designer store themselves! I got a Ripe shirt almost 25% cheaper!
The really good one in Ormond is called Maternity Warehouse. It used to be called Motherhood Maternity and they used to have days where nothing was over $20. They had all the same brands as other maternity shops for a fraction of the cost. I bought some tops for $5. I'm looking forward to going there again for this pregnancy!
I got some great stuff from Mother 2 Be in Richmond. They had a whole ton of stuff in a big range of sizes, plus a wonderful $20 rack - I picked up some fantastic shirts on the $20 rack which people are always commenting on positively. They have a website but there's not much on that, go into the store in person (I think they are on Church Rd???)
Also, I wear a lot of stretchy tops I bought from Myer for $20 - just had to pick out the ones which were a bit longer - and I'm still wearing them easily at nearly 37 wks. And I got 2 dresses from Big W in normal clothes (not maternity) just one size bigger - one was wrap around so fits as you grow, the other is black stretchy and again still fits me. They were only $15 each and both are very comfy.
you can buy non maternity stretchy stuff, supre is v cheap and has heaps that is suitable for pregnancy, i also have bought lots of tops from Kookai and Witchery...
Then bottoms I would go for maternity shops or target as you want the built in waists etc...Happy shopping! HTH
I recently got some from Belly Basics online and the tops were quite reasonably priced too - I got a long sleeved one for $30. There were more expensive ones if you wanted something dressier too and there weren't all that dear either. If you are larger than average for most maternity clothes, I finally found a great online shop that stocks up to 4XL clothes - cosmic maternity and their prices are fantastic - jeans were only $60 a pair and I got some more T's from there too.
Belly Buttons in Burke Road Camberwell are good.
Kluckee in Burke Road North Balwyn have a good range, they also have breastfeeding tops.
There's another shop in Glenferrie Road Hawthorn but I can't remember it's name, and it's quite expensive.
Ripe is the shop in Glenferrie Rd, and yes quite expensive.
Try Maternity Matters in Glen Waverley, on High Street Road near The Glen - has specials racks, including Ripe at discount prices. This shop is part of the same chain as Kluckee in Balwyn, which also has excellent range, but I found more specials in Glen Waverley.
GOOD LUCK!
You can try all the cheap shops out there in Southland etc as all this seasons fashions are flowing and stretchy. I got a really nice flowing top from Tempt in Southland for $30 and I will be able to wear it afterwards as well. If you want some nice quality pieces, look in Country Road, I got a cardigan that I will wear afterwards and they have great knit tops suitable for a bump as well. Country Road at Chadstone have 25% off on Wednesday. I know they are expensive, but if you get to use them next year it will be worth it.
Ditto on the Ebay. I bought about $180 worth of clothes, that added up to RRP of over $250. A word of warning tho, I am normally a size 12, but went for the larger pants, and they are actually too small now I have reverted back to my trusty Mother Me pants that cost $80, but are sooo comfortable. At least spend a bit of money on whatever makes you comfy, even if you have to wear them all the time. I HATE having tightness around my tum, I actually get cramps, so good fitting clothes are totally worth it!
Mollie's Maternity - they have an e-bay store and an outlet in Hallam. I found most of my stuff there for less than half the other shops were charging.
Have fun shopping!!
witchery, sussan and katies are not too bad price-wise but you have to keep in mind that they are not maternity stores and you are definitely better off with maternity clothes I think.
There is a website called egg maternity but there stuff is no cheap. However from memory they do have a dress you can wear 5 different ways and I thought that was quite reasonable.
