My belly isn't centred?!? Anyone else had this? 2nd trimester..
Hi girls,
The title sounds awful, lol didn't know how else to say it......
The last few days i've noticed when i look down at my belly (and it's quite often lately as it's growing!) that it's not quite CENTRED? My belly button actually looks more to the left. I shrugged this off and forgot about it until this arvo when i pointed it out to DH. He found the centre of my chest and ran a line down with his finger to where my belly is and said "yeah, it's not quite centred"...... so it's not just in my head!
DH thinks it could be a muscle thing? Or is it where the baby is lying perhaps? Squishing on different organs and moving things??? Perhaps one side the muscles are pulled tighter on one side perhaps? I haven't had any pain on any particular side so not sure why this is like this?
Is it just probably because all my organs and everything are being moved around?? That's what i'd say it is. It's my first pregnancy so its all new to me
Has anyone experienced this? To anyone walking by or talking to me looking at my belly you probably wouldn't even notice! However I notice it......
Should I ring midwife to explain? I might sound like a fruit loop
Yep your belly will change over the pregnancy ( OMG 18 weeks already!,, are you finding out the sex?)
Then once baby is born, you will have loopsided boobs.
FJ Lopsided boobs... haha mine are already a bit lopsided too Hollye! But i suppose none of us are really 'even' anyway we aren't really symmetrical to start with (is that the word?)
Wow this baby must be bigger already than i imagined!!! how exciting! i just didnt realise this small baby could make my belly button move to the left so much!! already!
It'll be the way bubs is laying, Charli mostly lays on the right side. Last night my nephew asked me where my belly button was cause my tummys so big and it stretched and you can hardly tell i have a bb now. lol.
Ren - I saw this thread the other day and hadn't really taken much notice of my belly button. That night I noticed that my belly button was right in the centre but last night it was way off to the right - I showed DH just to make sure it wasn't just me so yep - off centre belly here sometimes too. Was kind of nice and reassuring though, obviously bub is moving around in there and making him/herself comfortable.
35 weeks pregnant now, belly has been lopsided since about week 20. Went to the Physio to align my hips and she was having trouble finding the right alignment because of my lopsided belly. I don't mind the lopsided belly, but I wonder if the fact that baby is sitting so lopsidedly for so long has been the reason for my misaligned hips which has caused me a great deal of pain.
Baby's also sitting on my sciatic nerve, so I really do wish bubs would move.
Kuraiza! You sound so much like me!! I have had hip pain for a few weeks now, not to mention, sometimes VERY painful sciatic nerve pain in lower right side! I only ever feel kicks more from the right side too so bubs is definitely to the right side!! and on my nerve most of the time..... it hurts sometimes!
I've been seeing a physio too only when the pain gets bad.... i'm going to see her again in couple of weeks as my hip pain is coming back when i sleep at night it causes me discomfort.
You don't have long to go..... hopefully the pain eases up for you soon
AJC - hows your belly? hehe mine is still to the left hehe
You have all that pain at just 19 weeks? Ooooh no ... no no no. I would suggest investing in a hip brace to wear during the day. Get those hips straight and be vigilante with keeping your pelvis aligned whenever you sit, stand, lie etc.
And I thought my pain came on early. My heart goes fully out to you.
PS. We also are keeping our baby's gender a secret from everyone, but it has been impossible and we're sure we've slipped a few times, in fact just yesterday when we hit 35 weeks my husband completely slipped up when talking to his dad, and then tried to cover it up just making it worse. We decided next baby we're not going to do this secret thing, it has been way too difficult.

Sara! is it harder on the right side too? like it feels harder to touch? yeah well thats where my baby loves to stay! I think our baby has been on my right side for a while now but i did read in a pregnancy book somewhere that babies do tend to prefer the right side of the body over the left side but i can't remember where i read it or why babies would prefer right side of the body..... strange huh?!
My belly moved to the left the other day but now its back to where its been for a while !
Kuraiza - we have been really good and not slipped up! (touch wood!) yet at times I admit it has been hard keeping this big secret from people.... yet we're glad we have. Next time if we do find out the gender, we are going to tell people that we "don't know" what the gender is!! That will eliminate MIL from pestering me.....
Yeah, feels harder on the right too. They said at the scan that the placenta is anterior and up the top on the right too tho so I wonder what it is, placenta or baby, or both, lol. But sometimes it goes hard on one side or the other like it's sticking it's little bum out there or something, so cute. lol. Today it was going crazy and I could see it kicking my belly all over the place. So much fun!! lol, remember when we were TTC and then waiting so long for our scans and to feel it move, jeez, I still can't believe we're here already!!
