Unhappy Normal symptoms or something to be concerned about?

Okay so I know headaches, dizziness and fatigue can all be accounted for as second trimester symptoms, but I'm not sure if I should go to the doc just to be sure...
Headaches are throbbing and my head feels like it is going to explode... also seeing sparkly stars in my peripheral vision. Worse when I stand up
Dizziness every time I am upright. Going to the toilet is an issue because I have to stand up, walk to the toilet etc and by the time I get there I feel like I am going to faint
Extreme fatigue - back to the point of glandular fever / ross river fever / bahmar forest fever where I couldn't be awake for more than 4hrs without being absolutely exhausted. I'm getting to sleep pretty easy at night (nice change from the norm) but wake a number of times to use the toilet, and sleep about 10hrs in total. If I don't get at least that at the moment I am wiped out for the entire day and cannot do anything
I had my blood pressure checked the other day and it was within normal range, if anything a tiny bit elevated for me but not outside the normal, so I'm not really sure what is going on at the moment...
Can anyone please shed some light? I will be going to the doctor on Thursday as I'm suppose to be working tomorrow
    Thanks

Sorry you are not feeling well. I too had bad fainting during pregnancy but that was due to low bp and low iron. Perhaps your iron is low too - this would explain some fatigue and faint feeling. I would go and get it checked out, at the least it will make you feel more at ease. The alternative is to call someone like health direct - the 24hr nurse help line that will tell you if you should see a doctor.

Hope your feeling on top of the world and all the best for the rest of your pregnancy.

it sounds like symptoms i would definately not ignore you know your body better then absolutely anyone else if you don't feel 100% get checked out write down all the different symptoms relevant or not that have changed or are worrying you .. that way you wont forget anything and the doctor or even nurse/ midwive may put the pieces together for you hope your feeling better soon

    Hi,

I had very similar symptoms- after a blood test it showed I was extremely low in Iron and blood pressure check showed I had postural hypotension which is where you blood pressure drops when you stand up. I now take elevit multivitamin which has much higher dose of iron and I try to drink as much as possible which keep blood volume up therefore helps in maintaining blood pressure.

Ask your doc to do a lying and standing blood pressure- I did mine at work (I am a nurse) and my blood pressure dropped to 76/44 every time I stood up (extremely low considering 'normal' blood pressure in 120/80.

As for the fatigue- well I hear you!!! Its a killer!!!

    Thanks for the replies!
I haven't got to the doctor's yet, been too busy with Christmas and New Years but will definately be heading there VERY SOON as it seems to be getting worse...
I will get my iron levels checked, however they usually only drop with AF, and given I haven't had that for about 15weeks it'll be interesting to see

Remember you are using twice the amount of Iron now that you are pregnant, so If your iron levels were dropping prior to pregnancy then chances are the levels are worse now- Go have a big steak and eat some oranges!!

    Keep us posted!

Sorry to hear you are experincing this. I had the exact same thing in my last pregnancy although i did have high blood pressure , protein in my urine aswell as very swollen ankles...but not as early into the pregnancy i would definately be taking yourself off to the Dr's as soon as possible you need to get this checked out sooner rather then later.

Take care and let us know how you get on

Well just a quick update, seen Ob today and she has said everything sounds quite normal, and my blood pressure has lowered from normal which would explain it as well. Will get to the doctor tomorrow and get bloods taken just to be certain there isn't anything else going on though... but at least the headaches have settled a little
    Thanks
