Yup, I was like this!
It's eased off a little and I don't need toilet trips anymore so fingers crossed it eases for you too![]()
I was just wondering if anyone else experienced bad sleeping in their second trimester, I am in week 13 now and for the past week I have been waking up every 2-3 hours during the night and then it takes ages to get comfortable and get back to sleep.
Any suggestions, I have read that pillows help but I don't have a big bump so I don't think they would make me feel more comfortable. I have been sleeping without a pillow under my head which helps ( I have a small curve in my neck so pillows elevate me too much sometimes).
I'd give anything to sleep through the night again. I guess this is just practice for when bubs comes.
P.S. This is my first baby.

This is my first baby too, and just like you I have had alot of trouble sleeping through the nights.
Even at 27weeks 5days I still have my off-nights but it has gotten better.
There was one time I woke at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep until my alarm went off for work...not a good day.
I did find using a triangle v-shaped pillow along my side and under my head (like an L Shape) helped heaps. And now that my belly is getting much bigger I also need a pillow between my knees. But as soon as I'm asleep tho that pillow is on the floor.
It is a pain tho, probably if we didn't have to pee all the time we might be able to sleep right through. Just try to unwind before bed, I like to have a relaxing shower, rub oils into my belly then write a little journal entry about the day me & bubs have had.
Hope it gets better for you!
I was like you too early on.. the last week or so though, things have started to get better.. i'll only really wake up twice during the night now and don't need to go to the toilet as much... i think you should find that when your tummy pops you'll feel a bit better!
I'm like that too and 13 weeks, I don't remember it being this bad with my other 2 but maybe it's selective memoryI've been waking up at 3am and really struggling to stop my brain from racing, I end up with only a few hours sleep a night but if I steel a nap through the day It only makes it worse. I feel like a zombie at the moment.
Personaly I put it down to hormones playing havoc on my mind arg! hope it gets better for you soon
Hi Enchanted,
This is my first pg too and I am having twins. I have a body clock alarm that goes off at 3am every morning. I cannot sleep during the day so i walk around like a zombie or unexpectedly have lots and lots of energy. I am now 22 weeks. I feel the boys kick me at night and during the day all the time. You are right when you say something is preparing us for the midnight feeds and nappy changing. Women are incredible how we adjust to pregnancy. You will start to get used to feeling this way. I know that its hard. Hang in there sweetie.

Looks like there are a few of us in this boat, lol.
I've been feeling so tired and desperate to go to bed once I settle our toddler that once I'm in bed looking forward to sleep ---I cant!! Its soooo frustrating. And if I dont get enough sleep I tend to get a bit cranky... Dont think there is much we can do about it though but hope our next night is a much better one:-)
Hi to everyone,
Enchanted Butterfly, this is my first baby as well and I am experiencing some restless nights too. I am 18 wks pg and around the 13-14th wk I started having really vivid dreams which led to me feeling more exhausted when I awoke. Then this subsided and I had some great sleeps for a whil. I have noticed again over the last week that my sleep is disturbed a lot again - not so much with waking and needing to go to the bathroom but just with general restlessness!! I havn't really tried anything to stop it, I guess I just move and try to find a more comfortable position.
I did find all the ladies comments very interesting and I am defiantely going to try some of the suggestions. Good luck to you ok!!
Oh! I have just saved a pictorial signature - hope it has worked!! Have a wonderful day, Nicole
try the pillows! Even if you dont have a big bump, it can help keep you comfortable. Get as many as you can and set them up arond you.
A body pillow (those long ones) can help too.
Hope you get some good rest soon![]()
I've just started having trouble sleeping over the last few nights...can't get comfy...it's frustrating and having to get up a 6am to get ready for work is soooo hard when it's dark and cold!
Gawd - i complain non stop now because i can't get any sleep whatsoever because i am constantly booted in the ribs or can't breath because some how missymoo has managed to get behind my ribs, get leg cramps, legs go numb, baby doesn't seem to just stop and sleep... I honestly only think it's going to get worse for you and IBut maybe like the others said, try a body pillow... Good luck!
I think everyone is getting whacked in the tummy at night and having a restless nights sleep because of it. i hope for everyones sake that the dreams we are having are great and the sleep is in the least substantial to function during the day. As for getting up at 6am, i feel sorry for you!! I get kissed goodbye at that time in the morning!! You poor darling!
I totally know what you mean, we start work at 6am so I have to be ready by 5.50am every morning and then by the time I get home some nights (usually between 5.15 and 5.30pm) I just crash on the bed. I guess I am reallly lucky because my husband cooks most nights so I get tea in bed more often then not.
i know exactly how you feel.. i'm sorry to tell you this, but it hasn't settled down for me at all..
can't remember when the last time was that i had a decent nights sleep.. but i am used to it now.
I don't nap during the day because it just makes it worse.. And its not a comfort thing for me.. its more of a mind racing with all these thoughts.. (hormones i think)
Its just part of the parcel of being pregnant i guess.![]()
OK, this is beyond a joke, 7 days of sleepless nights...I think if it happens again I'm going to get up and watch TV.
