    Odd popping, tugging sensation.

I got this with my last pregnancy too, but never quite figured out what it was. It's not the baby moving because it's up too high, just to the right and above my navel, when I move in a certain way or sitting up from lying, I get this sudden popping, tugging sensation in my abdominal wall. I'm not overly concerned, just curious if anyone else has experienced it. It's not a pleasant sensation but it isn't painful either.

I keep wondering if it might be a hernia - I have no idea what a hernia feels like! This is bub #6 so I wouldn't be surprised at some weakening of the muscle wall.

Hey TooMany, not sure if I have the same thing and I'm probably not going to be much help because I have no idea what it is either but for the last couple of days I've had a pushing/tightening sensation on my left side just over my ribs (which are fast disappearing!). It gets itchy sometimes too on the outside and feels different to the right side when I press on it or rub the area. Sometimes it feels like it's vibrating (LOL I know how weird that sounds).

I can't work out if it's the baby (seems too high up to me?) or something else like an organ getting squashed against my ribs. It's not painful either but definitely gets my attention. Mine has not been movement related or eating related as far as I can tell. I've been in the car a lot the past few days so it seems to be sitting related, although I also got it standing up and cooking dinner last night.

I hope you work out what it is!

I had a quick search around the net and found out that it's not terribly unusual and probably just related to my expanding abominal wall.

    It's mighty annoying though!

Cool. Good to hear it's not unusual. Wonder if mine is the same thing?

Sounds like baby kicks or movement to me. Even though bubs may not be that high yet, they still can kick and push at whats in your upper tummy, making it feel like youre getting movement there. So maybe thats all it is?

I hadn't thought of that. Cheers!

It's definitely not that for me. After five pregnancies, I know what a kick feels like and unless the foetus has foot long legs, it's not going to be reaching my ribs yet It's definitely a muscular sensation.

Lately I have been wondering if mine is referred muscle pain from my back. My back has been sore on and off on the left side around the middle of my rib cage and I am wondering if the pain is being referred around to the front somehow. Does that even sound possible?
