I am certain people thin there is something wrong with me. I am scratching worse than a dog with fleas.
My boobs and my belly are incredibly itchy and no amount of scratching elevates the itchies. I slop cream onto my body and its not helping much. Can anyone offer a solution or an explanation?
I feel for you, it must be awful! I've had times over the past month or so where I've been extremely itchy too (although not as bad as you seem to be) and I just put it down to my skin stretching. Keeping it moisturised has helped me a lot. Aside from moisturising morning & night I've also found bathing with alpha keri oil very beneficial - you come out of the bath all slimey but it really does help to seal in the moisture and ease the itching. I hope that helps!
Hi from what i've read it will be due to a combination of your homones plus your skin stretching. Approx 20% of women will experience this. However approx 66% of us will experience red and itchy palms of hands and soles of feet which is due to the amount of oestrogen in our bodies.
If you have a bath try having warm oatmeal bath which should help ease the symptoms. Not too hot as this will increase the itch. Some chemists sell pre-packaged but if you can't get that then simply use oatmeal flakes wrapped in muslin square.
I can also remember my mother added baking soda to the bathwater when I had been bitten by insects as a child and this also reduced the itch. I think it is also an old fashioned rememdy for when kids had chicken pox to stop the itch.
Hope one of these work.
I find that it is underneath my boobs that are itchy and sweaty but have put this down to their increased size and increased blood flow as they ready themselves to be food factories in a few months time
I know how you feel Nae, it drove me crazy when I was pregnant with Matilda. It is annoying enough that you are itchy but to have itchy boobs and for me, nipples it is horrible, especially at work when you need to excuse yourself to the bathroom for a good itch!
I really do not know what helps relieve it but I know that it was only there for a while during my pregnancy and was gone before Matilda was born.
I haven't experienced any yet this time around but I sure it is coming.
not really interested in having a bath during this pregnancy its one thing I did alot through my one with Niki and I am a bit funny about anything I did last time - silly I know but I am avoiding most things I did last time as much as possible.
Daintree - I know what you mean about itchy nipples they are the worst. Its been driving me mad all day. I think today I have noticed it more.
Meadsie - I wonder if the oatmeal in a muslin wrap would work under a shower and use it like a body mit hmmm might have to try that.
Fi - where do you get that alpha keri oil? I have never heard of it.
wondering if I should go back to the Bio oil that seemed to work a treat last time I don't think the stuff I am using now is working too well
I did have to laugh, I was out with my horses giving them a piece of honey bread and saying hello and one of the had an itchy face and was rubbing his face on my belly - killed two birds with one stone Dh thinks I am weird.
I havent experienced this yet (touch wood..) but I know palmers have a product for this called 'Soothing Oil for Itchy Skin'. Can anyone add if this is effective?
