I do understand that our bones are separating to make room for bubs, but the pain I am having is so intense, I find sometimes I can't even walk. The middle of the night loo trips are the worst, I basically have to lean on door jambs on my way to the loo to take the weight off my pelvis so I can just drag my legs...
Is this normal?? It gets so bad, I just sit and cry from the pain.
I have spoken to her but I don't think I explained the intensity too well to her as she seemed to fob it off as "normal" however, I don't remember being like this with DD.
you could have symphysis pubis separation...or the beginnings of...you really do need to tell the dr how much you are hurting, so you can get the appropriate care...which is nothing scary, bit of physio and a belt to suppot the pelvis.
when you get out of bed try to keep your legs together as much as you can to help minimise the pain...and avoid squats at all costs
Definitely get a second opinion particularly if the doctor you spoke to was your GP rather than an obstetrician. I had severe back pain round about week 27 and being the smartypants that I am, looked it up in my pregnancy book and self-diagnosed sacroiliac joint pain. Told that to GP and she said "no, it's just that you're pregnant" so she gave me some painkillers and basically said "too bad."
I didn't actually believe her so mentioned my symptoms to my obstetrician who said "oooh, that sounds like sacroiliac joint pain to me, we'd best send you off to a physio." So I patted myself on the back for being right!
Bascially, what I'm saying is that GPs (and other medical professionals) often get things wrong so do go and get a second opinion either from an obstetrician or a physio. There are physios who specialise in caring for pregnant women but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the name of the place that I've been seeing.
Sounds like SPD to me! Get thee to a physio (you don't need a doctor's referral). I have been seeing a physio from about 18 weeks and I think it's made a huge difference, not only in that you feel better when they've worked on you , but they also tell you what to avoid to stop aggravating it, and teach you some stretches and exercises to strengthen and help. They can also give you a support belt thingy which helps.
Get onto it now because you don't want to end up on crutches before you have your baby!

It does sound like what the other ladies are describing. AT my early pre-natal classes we had a physio that showed us a pelvis (bone cast) and showed the three sections that make it up. This is why some women get back pain also where the pubic bone joins the spine. She mentioned pelvic tilts that you can do to strengthen the muscles holding it all together. The bones and ligaments relax during pregnancy, which is why they ache. Definitely see a physio or your OB for some gentle exercises you can do. If you are in so much pain that you are crying, it sounds like you deserve some relief,
Can i have an update on your condition?
As know i'm preggers with baby number 3 as well, is this something that i need to worry about?
I mean is it a case of the more babes you have the more trouble you have or is it a risk in all pregnancies?
