Yes, i had a very sleazy man touch my belly recently.
I moved backwards as i found it uncomfortable, idk if I'm just being sensitive or what but i find that someone no matter how well you know them touching your belly is an invasion of privacy. I'm not one to be touched by people unless I'm close to them like a relative or close friend so idk if its just me or not lol.
There has only been 4 people touch my belly so far...
DP - before I was pregnant I told him he couldn't rub my belly unless there was a baby in there, so now he has free reign of it and I love it
Sister - we were comparing our tummy sizes (mind you she isn't pregnant, can just stick her belly out )
Bestie - she asked but it wouldn't have worried me anyway... we've shared soo many things together and I think at times she is more excited than I am about it all
4yr old cousin - she lifts my shirt up over my belly, rubs it and asks where my baby is with a puzzled look on her face... soo cute to see
If a stranger walked up and touched it I think I would freak... but only time will tell
when i was pregnant i worked in a very social place and staff/friends would touch my belly all the time, one lady would greet my belly when i walked in to the room, rub my tummy and put her mouth right upto it and say hello to the baby, then say hello to me....WIERD!! ididnt even know her that well, she only did it a few times and i had to tell her i didnt like it.
But the biggest violation i experienced was at a friends birthday, there were a few people i didnt knw there and this guy was talking to my, all of a sudden her grabbed my belly, like a basket ball player would grab a ball with one hand,(my belly was quite round) and gave it a really hard squeeze, harder than i would touch it myself, I was so upset, would you grab my baby that hard if i was standing here holding her...NO!!! Told him so too!! what a jerk!
But all the other little belly rubs i just kinda delt with, every one loves a baby and a little pat on the tummy didnt really bother me that much, people are more curiouse than anything, and they were mostly younger people. If a random old stranger had tried it though id have probably been different!
I'm not all that keen on people (other than DH) touching my belly. Before I got pregnant I thought that I'd be ok with it but I'm not.
I work in a psychiatric facility and had a (manic) patient dash up to me one day and start rubbing. She was very gentle but it really upset me, so now I steer clear of that area of work.
Also, a few people at work rub my belly and one girl gave me a hard poke one day to try and get the baby to move. I just stepped away from her and changed the subject of baby talk.
It creeps me out having people touching me and even more so when people don't ask. I feel very protective of this little one.
I also feel uncomfortable with people coming up and touching my belly. Its like someone slaps a sticker on your head and says "im pregnant! Rub my belly!".
I know it's so awful and awkward when people touch your belly, but now I find I have to physically restrain myself from touching friends' growing bellies... they're just so cute!! I'd never do it though because I know how icky it feels, I just sit there staring at it and I'm like, 'Don't touch the belly, don't touch the belly, don't touch the...' I mean no harm, I swear!! I just love baby bellies
I also don't like the idea of being treated like a public buddah... don't rub me for luck! I ain't laughing!!
I'm also not affraid to tell people to back off. Sadly for my DH, that includes him! I don't like my tummy rubbed when I'm not pregnant - a few short months haven't changed that. I really like the "hands off the bump" tshirt idea!!
so far i don't have an issue with people touching my belly. Funnily enough no one really has wanted to even though my belly is enormous. I'm like "it's ok you can touch it". I am just so excited about this pregancy i don't care who feels it. I might feel a tad different after a number of grabs though.
I am slowly 'training' most of the people around me that touching my tummy is only ok when they are invited. It was a bit tricky with one side of the family because there is another pg woman who is happy for whoever to touch when they feel like it.
One thing that does annoy me is if i have told one person that i will let them know when bub is wiggling (so they can feel it), and another person arrives and they tell them that we are just waiting for bub to move and then they can all have a feel. ?? Um, no, i'm quite selective in who i want touching me and when, and you have kinda blown the trust there...
i dont mind belly rubs. my belly was HUGE with DS and i've got a little belly now with bundy. i was one of those strange people who was like "come on, tuch the belly - i dare you!' . but i can understand how alot of people dont like belly rubs. i'm out going so it kind of flows on. mind you DS had other ideas - when ever some one other then me put their hand on my belly to feel his kicks he'd stop! i must be the odd ball and im looking forward to shareing the baby belly with every one!
I hate the belly touching!!! Ever since I told work my colleagues have felt it okay to touch my belly or comment on whether or not it's growing!! Very upsetting as I am just coming up 15 weeks and don't actually have a bump yet! I have told people that it upsets me, and the message seems to have got through now.
I find it so rude! People would never dream of grabbing you or commenting on your expanding girth if you weren't pregnant, so I'm not sure why it seems to be that once you're pregnant everything is fair game?!!
I got really upset a few weeks ago when I was feeling particularly fat (just one of those mornings), and had spent a long time dressing to hide it, and then someone commented that they could see a 'bump'... You mean last night's dinner????
