get some strepsils and also some betadine sore throat gargle - tastes like crap but it works. Maybe try for a stronger pain killer as well, some panadeine should be OK - not the panadeine forte, but just the panadeine,
I have had THE sorest throat since 2 days before Christmas.
I went to the dr yesterday because it was so bad and he has given me antibiotics but it is getting so bad i choked on the capsule this morning trying to swallow it as it got stuck in my throat.
It's so sore I was crying
I can't sleep properly, swallow properly, eat properly.
I have been gargling salt water, panadol every 4 hours (liquid cause it's too hard to swallow anything), gargling cepacaine. I can't do this anymore!!!!!!
PLEASE PLEASE help me!!!!!!!!!!! What else can I do???????

Maybe call a pharmacy or midwives or somewhere to ask what you could use? Hope you're feeling better soon!
Does it? I didn't know that - sorry for giving you a bum steer. I don't see what the harm would be though because you spit it all out and it's not in your mouth for that long. Maybe weigh up the pros and cons and if you get desperate then try it?
I know what you mean. I have a nasty cold/cough and my throat is killing. My tummy muscles are so sore from coughing. I have been having lemon honey tea (cup of tea, squeeze half a lemon and add teaspoon or two of honey) that helps for a little bit. hope you feel better soon.
Yep, good ole honey and lemon tea....always makes my throat feel better.
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks girls.
I forgot how exhausting being sick is when you are pregnant. For something as simple as a sore throat it's really taking it out of me!
I second the panadeine, pretty sure that is ok?
You can try gargling with Apple Cider VInegar too.. it has a bit of bite but I always give it to the kids for sore throats etc
Hope you feel better soon!
It sucks when your immune system is lowered - it's so hard to get better. Try to get plenty of rest and keep your fluids right up! As well - if you don't get better soon, get back to the doctor, you might need a little nudge. At about 34 weeks with my last bub I had bronchitis that wouldn't get better because of my suppressed immune system and I ended up needing penicillin injections - and it was worth them because I got better after that.
So that's my advice. If you don't get better soon, just get to a doctor again.![]()
