The Margot Sunderland book is awesome - really appealed to my scientific training. Don't get me wrong, it's very easy to read. But it also really explains how gentle/attachment parenting techniques are actually in sync with a baby's neurological development. Plus it's from the UK (I get annoyed with American texts!). I used to consider such techniques as all a bit 'hippy la la' but I wouldn't consider doing it any other way now
Good on you for looking for reading material beyond pregnancy and birth - my doula is all for getting stuck into parenting book before becoming a parent (she's lent us heaps of books including this one). Reading them has really helped me sort out a lot of 'issues' I have with the way I was brought up before they explode in my face with my own little one to take care of.
