just to dash your excitement fundal measuring is a flawed science as bub can change position and then your measurements will change..
i know you feel like this is going on for ever but trust me you want to have as long as possible to allow your baby to come when its ready! otherwise they will induce and bubs will be far from ready..
..and the measurements can differ depending on who does it & how they do it. I was actually never measured.
My DD was a big baby, but my dates were right. She was born at 34 weeks and was 3.5kg already LOL. But she behaved like a prem, and there was no doubting my dates. My OB hinted occasionally that the baby was quite big.. but she was never measured, this is just from him looking at her every few weeks via ultrasound. He never offered to change my dates tho based on it. The only semi-accurate measuring they can do is before 12 weeks. After that the measurements can be way off.
Lol.
Depending on where bub is, i either look like i have a huge potbelly or i look like i'm about to pop pregnant.
And it WAS a student midwife.
I know i'll miss watching my tummy roll around from bubby moving.
Sorry about whinging so much lately, I'm getting into that whole being HUGE and not really being able to move, and wanting to eat anything (doesn't matter what) ALL day long.
yeah i wouldnt get your hopes up my fundal height is at my belly button and im only 12 weeks so according to that i would be 20 weeks....theres so many variables so just enjoy ur pregnancy it will be over b4 u know and then u will miss it
My early scan dates put my DD as being due on March 1st.
My GP from about 20-22 weeks thought due to fundal height I could possibly be 2 weeks further along.. hospital would not have a bar of it & insisted on staying with my original dates ( I had NO idea, so it was all down to an 8 week scan)
DD was born on 3rd March (bang on time according to hosp) and was soooo brown, wrinkled & peeling.. she was definitely at least 2 weeks late... the 2 boys since have also been late and both were in better condition with her, so goodness knows exactly how late she was!
Having said all that, she came when she was ready, not me or anyone else... if I had had my way I would have been induced earlier & that may not have been such a great thing.
And my fundal height this time around can change in a day! Depending on what bub is doing, or what I've been doing too (If I've been on my feet a lot, I think she sits lower).
Relax & enjoy your pregnancy... I hate to say it but I found with my first two, the last 8 - 10 weeks took sooooo long, with no.3 (& so far with this one) I have been able to be much more relaxed & take it day by day... and it doesn't seem like it now, but it will be over before you know it!
