the runs and gastro- really getting me down (WARNING TMI)

okay, so im like really getting upset over it.
I have had gastro since day dot of finding out i was pregnant...

and on top of bad gastro pains and intense cramps in the bowels. I have on and off cases of diahorrea and/or constipation.

Its really terrible, i lay in bed with gastro pains that bad that i curl in a little ball and have to count numbers in my head til it passes.

Im not sure if its all to do with pregnancy, but its getting me down, and the cost of toilet paper is getting beyond a joke :P
And even after i 'do my business', my lower end is left feeling very unconfortable and cramped up.

I think this is my punishment for not having one ounce of morning sickness or nasea

Is there any ways to reduce this or make it more bearable?
I mean i cant even eat a banana without having to race to the loo to do a big job I just cant believe there is that much waste in there, it just doesnt seem like im eating enough for whats coming out.

    Im so sorry TMI

    Hi Hon

I agree with AJP, go to your doctor and get your poo tested. It sounds horrible and you shouldn't have to put up with that. It's not really gastro as that is a virus which generally passes within 24-48 hours. You may have picked up a water bourne virus considering it's been going on for so long. Yes, see your GP as soon as you can.

Bowel issues are very common during pregnancy (especially if you have a history of bowel issues or suffer from IBS like I do) but it shouldn't be as bad as you described. Had you travelled overseas before falling pregnant or in early pregnancy? You could have picked up a travel bug which in some cases can be difficult to shake off.

Get some tests done ASAP and put your mind at ease. I really feel for you and hope you're on the mend soon x

    Hi,

I was going to say the same thing - i dont think it sounds like gastro.
It sounds more like another sort of bug to me - one that you really need to see a Dr about.

Please go and see your Dr and get some tests done as you have had it for a while now !

    Good luck

As the others have said, get checked out hun it doesn't sound like a normal gastric bug to me.

Constipation is normal during pregnancy thanks to the wonderful progesterone hormone, if you are finding yourself backed up, up the water and fibre.

The runs sounds like something else is going on particularly if it is constant all the time, thats just not normal.
