hi girls, well in just at the end of my 2nd trimester and my back has really started playing up. I havent been sleeeping well, as the pain wakes me..its just like a dull ache all over, but then a really strong sharp pain right at my lower back. Any suggestions as to strategies that will relieve this? i have a very strong curvature in my spine, so as i get bigger its just curving more. im really scared aobut the next 3 months if the pain is this bad now, how will it be at the end?
Hi Tina
I get the same thing as I also have scoliosis.
Are you seeing an osteo or chiro to make sure your in alignment as much as you can be?
I've been using heat packs and one of my girlfriends at work is a massuse so she has been releasing the muscles for me.
do you do a desk job? I know that half my prob at the moment is having my upper body in the typing position so often combined with the weight of bubs....
thanks DoubleDee268,
i might have to try an osteo or chiro..which would you reccommend?
i had a massage today, but i feel that it helps at the time, but does not feel significantly better afterwards....
ive actually finished work, as i am moving interstate this weekend! i guess all the packing is not helping either. Hoepfully it will settle down once i get home and relax a bit?!
Perhaps a belly bra would help. You can get them from Babies Galore, DJ's and other baby stores. Its just an elastic band that goes around you. I know its hot this time of year but I did notice it helped on days when it just wouldn't back off.
My back pain was higher as I ended up with 3 dislocated ribs from everything growing and to be honest that was the worst of my symptoms on this pregnancy. It lasted ages and only stopped about a month ago I guess when bump dropped.
Heat bags and a back adjustment regularly probably wont hurt either. I have been seeing a Chiro for many years and just had my last appointment before the big event last week and it made a huge difference. I used to go once a month.
I have the same issues, also long winding back injury story and mild scoliosis.
I go to Chiro now every 4 weeks. My lower back starts to act up 2 days before I see my Chiro and then I know it's that time again. They sort me out and I am fine. Chiro told me to use the ice packs, not the warm ones though.
