    Red face sleep truble/'streching'?

this may sound odd but has any one else found that its harder to sleep as the bump grows? ive tried propping it up with a pillow but its just...not happening. im guessing being an ex belly sleeper isnt helping. but im wondering how meany pillows i should have for my bump now? one or more?

i've also found that around my lower ribs at my back is getting sore. im wondering if thats becuase im 'streching' or what. i know im carring more waight around, i can no longer run! i tried to accross a car park on friday and i think a hippo is stelletos would have had more grace and ballance than i did! so im wondering if i can use volratin (or the aussie version of it...) to help with the mucle ake? or is there anything i can use to help it? (im avoiding panidol...) and is this becuase my ribs are expanding? and the mucles are like "WTF do you think your doing PUNK?" or is it just im working tooo hard and i need to relax?

Ohh and im sure my feet are slowly srinking because i struggle to reach them and i can only *just* see them over my bump.

oh baby_blip im sorry to say but i am just over 25 weeks pregnant and its gets worse im afraid, i was a tummy sleeper full on and i am just finding it so hard to sleep now, i have found that for my back pain i place a hot water bottle or heat pack on just before i go to sleep and that tends to help, and also i have found that i just cant sleep with a pillow inbetween my legs anymore and strangely i have been sleeping with 2 pillows under my head and im ok now for some reason, not sure if this will help you... but yes the sleeping is very hard but hope you get there slowly....good luck

    Hi Baby Blip
I would not advise you to take voltaren when pregnant. It is a category C drug and thus not recommended in pregnancy. I’m not sure why you are avoiding panadol but that is completely safe to take when pregnant.

Hun, the further along you get, the harder blocks of sleep come by - with pressure on bladder, not being able to lay in same position for hours on end or turn in bed without waking etc .... get some sleep whilst you can - cos I ain't getting much now!

rosa: aww what i have to look forward to! i'll try another pillow under my head too...maybe some one should invent a minni matress that pops over the top of the old one with a cut out for the ever growing belly, that way us belly sleepers can get a good nights sleep!

alan: i think i ment the voltaren gel stuff, or maybe deep heat. i know i can take panadol but i've always avoided it unless i really needed it (after a bad kidney infection 4 years ago i took a packet and a half over 3 days...) and i just feel that with taking pandaol all the time the boys ablity to deal with pain starts to fall. (thats just my view on it ) and i want an all natural birth so i see that the pain i face now will look so small after going (hopefully) though a natural birth

samih: maybe i should warn DF that i'll me tossing and turing more often then? and that its not him its my belly making me want to move around so much more....ohh and i just realised - i'll be HUGE i summer...so it can only get worse! heh.

Blip, I bought this maternity pillow at Target and it has been really good for me. It is like a half body pillow that goes between my legs and the other bit wedges under my belly. I find I can turn easier in bed without reorganising 8 pillow and I too sleep with 2 nice pillows under my head but I always have, I am thinking about adding a 3rd one for when I am on my back as jellybean does not seem to like it anymore when I am laying on 2 and I get uncomfortable rather quickly..

I'm with you on the sleep though...after a while on the same side, I start aching and need to move. I also had wicked knee pain at night as well, especially after a busy day...weird! The hot water bottle is a great recommendation too. Ahhh, what we go through for our little bundle of joy!

Am curious about Deep Heat myself, I have used a little bit of red tiger balm once below my shoulder blade as I was in pain crying and needed muscle relief..we looked it up on the net and could not find a lot of information but we thought a little and not on my belly should not harm jelly bean...

    Baby-Blip,

I have trouble sleeping too. I can't seem to wedge a pillow under my belly so i just end up leaning on my belly which is probably not good. I tried to put a pillow between my legs but i have no idea what that is suppose to do?! (If you girls know, let me know!) So that didn't help any, it's just really uncomfortable. I sometimes sleep on my back but the little one kicks around alot if i sleep that way. I think NOT sleeping well is just something we have to get use to : )

I thought about getting one of those body pillows, you know the really long ones you can wrap yourself around at night with but don't know if they are any good.

    Fun, fun, fun!

    Hi JellyBean,

The pillow between your leg is meant to keep your pelvis and kness in line with your shoulders and therefore better posture for your spine. I've been having back problems for years and sleeping with a pillow between my knees has become second nature and I can't sleep without it! Make sure the pillow is not too flat, otherwise it won't work as it should.

I bought a half body pillow and its working great...I thought it would be more practical and easier to move around than having a whole body one...one half covers my belly and its long enough to go between my knees... I also put a pillow under my knees when on my back...

    Hope it helped!

Sydney Moose - thanks for that. I couldn't work out why your legs needed the pillow when i was your back and tummy. Now i understand!

    hey blip
i hear you! I've been getting the random rib pain tooi think it's just because all our organs are moving up to make room for bubs
I've tried sleeping with pillows but I can't seem to master it - also I find that if I lie on my side for too long now my hip goes to sleep WTF!!!

If i come across any solutions I'll let you know

    Hi doubledee and blip,

I also have rib pain and pain between the shoulder blades, but I just thought it was from lying almost all night on my left side. I have found a pillow between the legs really helps, although it is weird when you try and roll to the other side. My DH finds this new "knee pillow" a bit hard to get used to and the other night threw it on the floor (in his sleep he reckons).

A lot of my friends recommend the maternity pillows, too and I have heard they are great surrogate husbands to cuddle!
