    Slow Down in Movement

    Hi Ladies,

Just a question, since Saturday I have had a decrease in bubs movement. Before Saturday bubs hardly stayed still and didn't even give me a chance to worry because of constant kicks and punches. But for some reason since Saturday things have been pretty quiet in there. I am still getting a few small movements here and there but am starting to get concerned as I initially put it down to an off day but it has draged on now for almost 5 days.

Normaly when I lay down or sit on the couch bubs goes nuts, but the last few night I have lay in bed giving my tummy a rub and no response at all.

I have called my OB and am waiting for a call back. I would really appreciate any advice? Im 23w 4d.

    Thanks

    Hi Jaffaz,

Have you tried a big glass of cold water/red cordial or something sugary? Then lie down, maybe bubs is a bit sleepy. If you don't get any movements in 1/2 an hour I would give the hospital that you are booked into a call to see if you can go in and just get checked.

Do you know of your placenta is at the front or back, if it is at the front it may make the movements trickier to feel.

The same happened to SIL last week, she is a similar gestation, the red cordial worked for her, but it doesn't hurt to get checked if you aren't feeling the movements, will give you piece of mind
    Take care

I was going to say the same as Beema, she has given you some good advise there. I had the same thing with DD and it all worked out ok.
Once again as Beema said if you are worried it's always good to have the resuurence of seeing your Dr or talking to your midwife.
Lets us know how you go with it all.

    Thanks Ladies,

My Ob called me back & he didn't seem to concerned as I am still feeling some movement now and then, just not as much as before. He wants me to monitor it over the next 48hrs and if I'm still concerned he will give me a ref for an U/S.

I think I will try the red cordial now, hopefully that will give bubs an energy burst and let me relax!!!

    Thanks Again

i've had this happen to me as well.. sometimes they can change positions and start whacking somehwere where we can't quite feel. EG, He/she might have flipped and be punching at your placenta, which you might not be able to feel much.
Try the red cordial and keep an eye on it, definately keep your ob informed! And good on you for being so intune with what your little one is up to in there!!

Jaffaz I am due the same day as you

While pregnant with my first son in NZ, I used to hassle my midwife as I was constantly worried about his movements or lack of. She told me thast anything over 10 movements is considered normal. So she suggested I make a kick chart and closely moniter the movements I felt. Sure enough it was more than 10 but it is something I still follow now when this little lady decides to have what I think is a quiet time.
Anything icey cold works for me as well. Fantastic excuse to put your feet up on the couch with a big bowl of your favourite icecream I say. But then I hardly need an excuse!!

Some days i dont feel much movement at all, only little bumps every now and then

like today she is hardly moving every now and then i feel a little bump

she is normally so active all day all night lol i love it its so comforting and when she has one of those days of not moving it scares me and i wait to see what happens

but she has always started to move again next day or very soon, although if it went a whole day with me not feeling a thing i would go to hossy or if it was a couple of days with limited movemrnt i would also speak to middy or go to dr
