Sorry to be a grumpy bear but I am feeling really cheated. EVERYONE (ok except my Mum) kept telling me that my Morning Sickness would end at, 12 weeks, 14 weeks, 16 weeks etc. This includes medical staff who insisted that its all very normal.
Well I am just about at the 19 week mark and its building up again, not that it left but the 14 day stint of steroids did help get me down to only throwing up 1-2 times a day. I'm back up to feeling ill all day and not being able to keep anything down today.
I realise that this might just be my lot in life but its not making my life any easier. If the Dr's and others can't fix it, then they can't, but is it so much to ask that someone with a bit of paper says "Oh sorry, we got that one wrong. Looks like you do get really bad, prolonged morning sickness. No its not in your head, it is real and yes I can see why its affecting every aspect of your life. We'll make sure your not dehydrated or starving - you just get through it as best you can"
What I really don't want to hear is yet another person saying "Oh that should be over by now" I KNOW BUT IT ISN'T!
Once again sorry for the grumpy rant but I am having a really bad day. If I could I would find a nice cave to hid in. If there is anyone out there who is still feeling ill let me know please. It wont fix it but at least I wont feel so abnormal.
Diana
PS Just in case your wondering I have tried all the alternative options, stuffed myself silly on ginger, done the Maxalon and Zofran attempt and even steroids (not the body building ones the de sensitising ones). Its not for lack or trying. I also know that there are other women out there with it worse than me and all my sympathy and empathy goes out to them.
*hugs* hun.
I really hope it subsides for you soon. Mine came back with a vengeance for a while at 30 weeks so I can vaguely empathise.
Praying it all buggers off reeeeeeeeeal quick.
I've got friends who have been incredibly sick through their pregnancies too. Some people do just get really ill. What a relief going into labour will be for you, and you're almost halfway there! You can do it!
Did you try the pressure bands that people use for sea-sickness? I think you can get them from the chemist. Just in case you haven't heard of them, I'm guessing you're willing to try anything to give you some relief...I know some people find relief by using those.
I think being sick all the time entitles you to a bit of a grump. I really hope you find something that works, even just a little bit for you. Otherwise, all the best until you get your beautiful little bundle and start to think...'maybe it was worth it'!
I am nearly 20 weeks and I still have violent MS evey morning - I must admit that it is less severe than in the start but I still have at least one day a week where anything I eat comes straight back up. The only thing that I have found to helo me feel better in the morning is Iced Coffee - I have a bottle evey morning and I find it settles my tummy heaps. I have to keep eating ALL day tho or I start to feel off again as well.
I hope that u start to feel better soon - but even if it takes labour to ease it it will all be worth it!!
Well after a REALLY bad 2 days I went off to the emergency department and got put onto a drip. All the staff were really kind and sympathetic and I was ok - not better but ok.
Then low and behold the nurse that came in to remove the drip said it... "at 19 weeks you shouldn't have morning sickness, you do know you need to drink fluids". My DH then informed her of my history and intercepted it, but even he walked out of there commenting that he understood why I get frustrated.
All said and done I'm back home now feeling a lot less dizzy and faint and my headache is 50% better. I'm even holding down gatorade so if I can keep this up we might be right (water is still a bit too much for me).
I atleast know now that going in to be rehydrated is not so bad (even though the Dr stuffed up putting in the first cannula) and that its sure better then letting myself get worse. I'll just ignore the one stupid comment and be thankful that there were atleast 9 other really nice hospital staff who didn't say anything daft.
You poor thing. I had morning sickness my entire pregnancy and even in labour, the moment hamish arrived it went. I know you probably didnt want to hear that, but i just wanted to let you know that there are other people out that there that have it longer than the "normal" 12 weeks they say you are meant to have it. I tried everything else well but the only thing that worked was actually having the baby (sorry to say).
Good luck with it though, you may find something that works for you.
