    Tender tummy/ Back ache

    Hi guys,
Has anyone else has experienced this? I am suffering from a really tender tummy today- I have had a tummy ache all day, as well as a sore back. Do you think the tummy & back are connected?

So far I have not had any constipation at all in this pregnancy...my tendancy has actually swung the other way! I have also noticed that I'm not really very hungry recently? I do usually suffer from mild tummy stuff when I'm not pregnant, so it's not really anything so unusual- just wondering if I should be worried about this or not?
I can't wait to feel the baby move so I know everything is ok!

    Hey lullabyblue

the 2nd trimester is full of growth of your baby and lots of changes for you to take in

generally speaking...if at any time you are concerned in your pregnancy call your primary care giver, they wont mind, and it is always much better for you to get the reassurance or advice that you need

sometimes you can get a tender tummy from clothes that are a little bit firm... I know this sounds a little silly, but it was around 16 weeks in my 1st pregnancy that I suffered a tender tummy and a bit of a back ache...it took one of my collegues to point out that maybe it was the pressure of firm fitting clothes

sometimes you can also get a back ache from the release of relaxin (that wonderful hormone that softens all ligaments) and with the change in shape as your belly grows this can cause the lower back to arch (sway back). Practise standing upright feet hip width, tucking the bottom under and tilting the pubic bone forward, while drawing the navel back to the spine (this tones the pelvic floor), this helps to alleviate most back discomfort

dont worry if you are not constipated...it generally swings either way

and not every pregnant woman is always ravenous...though you will certainly have some times in your pregnancy when your baby's need for nutrients accelerates, causing never ending hunger on your part

    hope this helps...

HI, I went throught the same thing just a weeks ago. I am just a little ahead of you in my pregnancy and worried about the samething. I had a cold at the same time and wasnt sure if it was the cold that caused the pain. I also felt a few nights later sore hips, so if that happens dont worry either.

I felt the baby move around your time, but it was so light that its easy to get confused with other tummy movement. I must admit the noticable kicks are inconsistant at this time, but when you feel it its great.

    Hi there

I was starving throughout most of the first trimester, but my appetite has slowed quite a bit the second trimester. I'm thinking it might be because I simply don't have as much room in my stomach any more with the increasing size of my uterus. I need to eat a lot slower and can't eat as much in any one meal.

I've had very mild pain too, it feels as if it is coming from my uterus though, rather than my actual stomach. I've read that this can happen at this stage of pg simply because so much is stretching

Thanks everyone for your comments- it really helped me know that others have been in the same/ similar situation...
I feel like I've had a huge turnaround the last few days though- all of a sudden I feel more like my old self! Sometimes you don't realise how crappy you were feeling until you actually feel better!!!

    Thanks again : )

I have a tendency to have bad back pain in my sacral region anyone due to the weight of my breasts, but i have noticed it increasing of late, and my tummy is always tender! DPartner gets very frustrated that he cannot rest his hand on my tummy of late because of the pain, or my incessant need to pee soon after!
