Had an appointment with the midwives this morning, she mentioned that on my ultrasound I had almost 2 weeks ago there was a "spot" on there that the sonographer couldn't explain what it was. That's pretty much all she told me, and not to worry because it would most likely disappear, I just have to go back to have another ultrasound in a couple of months. But of course, now I am worried, and I wish she hadn't said anything at all When she first started saying it my heart started racing thinking there was something wrong with our little baby...
Just wondered if anyone has any idea what it might be? She didn't say where it was detected or what it could have been, just that it was a "spot" (not very helpful I know!).
hmm i couldnt really say but i hate when they mention those sorts of thigns and u just worry the whole time. i was told after my 20wk u/s my bubbs had enlarged kidneys and id have to be rescanned @ 32wks which had me worried and still does.
i suppose if it was something really serious thatd be doing another scan sooner rather then later doesnt i help i know
Thanks BM. You're right, I guess if they were really worried about it they would have called me and organised to have another scan fairly quickly after finding it..or so one would think!
Mamakass I'm not sure if it is shown on the photos we got from the ultrasound. I wouldn't know what I was looking for, I can make out the baby and that's about it! Lol. Am happy to post a link to full size pictures though if anyone is interested...
Oh, my sister had that with her DD2. Her docs assumed it was a cyst on the brain. They organised another scan for her before the bone started to close over and cause them problems seeing it, but when she went back it was all gone. Nothing wrong with her DD2, unless you call a child that was anal about keeping their room clean since 2yo a problem. Here is hoping you get that lucky too!
Was the spot on the brain? Babies often have choroid plexus cysts on their brain, but Im sure they would've given you the correct term if that's what it was. If it was that, they appear on the brain and usually close by about 25 weeks. It's not an issue at all if it's the only thing, however if there were other markers it can be linked with developmental probs. Obviously this is not the case with you (as it wasn't with my DD either, who had 4 cysts) as this was the only marker.
I would ring however and ask to talk to someone. I pestered them until a Dr rang me on a sunday and put my mind at ease! xo
