I have the worst thrush. It is driving me mad. I got it from antibiotics I was on for an upper respiratory infection and it's so sore and itchy!! I'm using canestan cream and I just want it to get better

MM, I hope you don't mind me replying but I had terrible thrush earlier this year after several courses of strong antibiotics. I tried everything! Canestan by itself isn't strong enough. I had six oral doses (over weeks) and used the cream, was on double dose probiotics, tried garlic....ate yoghurt....everything! Persistence and coming at it all guns blazing is the best bet IMO!.

    Good luck!

I also recommend the oral treatment - one little capsule got rid of it for me after getting it following treatment for mastitis.

I don't think you can take oral treatment while pregnant.

I just had it and was told not to take the oral tablet while pregnant. I instead got inner health plus and stuck with the cream. It was gone in 4 days after starting both. Goodluck it it the most horrible thing.

Sorry on phone so can't see any tickers etc. I took it while breastfeeding so if its ok for that it should be ok for pregnancy I would think, but definitely check with pharmacist or GP!

Just got over a horrid dose. Used the 6 day cream treatment in double doses. Showered morning and night and went without nickers where I could and wore loose pants. All seemed to help.
I wore panty liners during the day and changed them often. Also started inner health plus. It finally cleared up after day 4-5.
I was too late for garlic.

Hope it clears for you soon xxx

Taking while breastfeeding is not the same as taking while pregnant.

Get into the probiotics (take 2hrs away from antibiotics) and hopefully once off anti's things will settle down. Don't eat foods high in sugar as this feeds thrush. And if no improvement see your dr.

I've finished the antibiotics now and am taking a good probiotic. I'm onto night 3 of the 6 day canestan treatment, really hoping it starts to work soon. It's a little hard at work when you're itchy all the time, can't really scratch down there all day
