I'm using the Wii to track my weight this time round, and I'm not gaining any. I was about 67 when I first got pregnant, and I've gone up and down a kg or two, but I weighed this morning and I was 67.8. My tummy's getting bigger, and I seem to be getting my trademark pregnant bum but I wonder about just not gaining weight. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy not to! But is it 'normal'? With both others I was lighter when I got pregnant and so I expected not to gain as much given my heavier starting weight, but I'm just quite surprised that I'm pretty much the same.
With my first pregnancy I actually lost 6kg in the first trimester! By the end of the pregnancy I had gained maybe 10kg all up, but lost it quite quickly after birth. This time around I have lost 2-3kg so far.
Didn't put on weight with any prengnancy...so far with this one I have lost a kg.
So think that means I actually lose weight while pregnant, since I am obviously putting on the weight of he baby fluid etc...
And I never got ms either. So I think there are some friends of mine that want to shoot me.
I made up for it last time though by putting on 25kgs in the first year while BF Going to be careful of that this time around!
I only gained 8kgs during my whole pregnancy with DD but I was really underweight prior so I just got to a healthy weight. i was 54kg when i fell pregnant and maxed at 62
I was only talking about weight gain/loss in pregnancy with DH last night! I was 10kgs lighter at about 25 weeks then what I was when I got my BFP, was back to my starting weight the day I delivered, Im normal a size 12, was buying a 10 while pregnant (had a bit of trouble in the belly department though). Admitedly I suffered debilitating m/s until 37 weeks
Lily Dust: OMG! ms till 37 weeks!! How did you cope? I had it till 13 weeks and thought I was going to die!! Actually, I got soo bored of eating, I just didn't feel like eating any more, but HAD to!
It's so interesting to see how differently people put on/lose weight in pg! So far in my two pgs I've been pretty lucky, being able to pretty much wear just a size bigger clothes, bought a couple of maternity clothes towards the end. Think this time I'll have to start them a little earlier...
Good to hear others' experiences - see, with my other two, I gained 25-28 kg by the end My m/s wasn't too awful; I was thinking about it after I posted and I'm probably just eating and exercising better this time round. M is trying to lose weight so we're not eating as much junky food, and it's probably doing me some good.
Wow! Losing weight while pg! Morning sickness I guess. I HAD to EAT with morning sickness, so I've already put on a stack of weight
I'm sure it's normal to be all over the place, as they say, every pg is different. Wish I was only .8kg more than my pre pg weight!
Interesting thinking. I just assumed that if you're heavier to start with, you'd just get heaps bigger. I'm a bit heavier than I was with my last two as well, and have this feeling I'm going to be MASSAVE!!
Wow good to hear I'm not the only one on this thread! Lol
I was quite overweight when I fell pregnant to begin with, but I lost 20-25kgs in the first 16 weeks or so due to my severe morning sickness.
Thank GOODNESS I'm better now, but I haven't put on any weight I've lost even still (I don't think?) and I'm over 26 weeks now! (so technically I think that means my bodys still losing weight, but the baby's gaining it all? Lol)
My middies didn't seem to care, most likely because I could still drink some amount of water and keep my vitamins down, and I was overweight to begin with, but still!
I was very worried I'd end up like my sister who had hyperemesis with my niece and was in and out of hosp all pregnancy and had to have anti-nausea drugs for cancer patients to try help calm her down!
I had this with my first child, I walked out of hospital 10 kilos lighter than when i got pregnant, morning sickness was crazy!!!
My midwives didn't have a problem with it either
Wow! MrsBexie, I think you're the only person (apart from myself) to have EATEN because of m/s! Glad to hear that I'm not the only one, thought I was a little crazy! But I did put on a lot of weight in the 1st trimester also, and kind of plateaued in the 2nd. Still gaining a bit, but not much.
It's funny how different pg can be for everyone! But yes, we should all stop worrying so much, I guess. I find it very hard!
