What are the Average Findal Heights for 20wks and a couple of other questions...

    Just a few quick questions.

As I said in the title, what are the average fundal heights for 20wks?
I'm not really worried about larger fundal height (or at least I wasn't really thinking about it until the other day), but on the verge of being concerned at the moment as the last few days measurements have put it at approx 5cm ABOVE the top of my belly button.

Now at 16wks 4d fundal height was measuring at just over 18wks, which didn't worry me as it was the same with DS at that stage and I was told that it seems to be something that happens in my pregnancies.
I still have another 2 weeks before I see the OB, and it's too late to call my midwife now as she finished for the day at 1:30 (She's only ever in on a wednesday and I can't contact her at any other time, I keep getting told to call the maternity ward but they won't deal with me until I reach 22wks due to their guidelines etc).

    And my second question is:

I've compared "Little Miss Dragonfly's" morphology scan done at 19wks 2d with my DS's scan done exactly on 20wks, and have noticed that not only does she have really long legs, but that her body from neck to butt is a heck of a lot longer than DS's was at that stage, and her head is a different shape to DS's as well... Where DS was mostly round, "Little Miss Dragonfly's" head is long from the back to the front and narrow from side to side.
The sonographer wasn't worried about it, but then he didn't say much other than that her legs were measuring a week ahead of dates and that her head & CRL were measuring almost a week behind dates... seems a bit odd to me, and yes I know every baby is different lol.
So, what I'd like to know is, is it normal? Or should I be asking my OB certain questions when I see him in 2 weeks time?

    My third question is:

Has anyone else felt like they have been kicked in the heart by their bub around 20wks?
Only asking as over the last few days I've had this happen about 4 times, where bub has kicked up really high and my heart has been jolted and skipped a beat or two becuase of it. It's a really, really freaky & weird feeling. It's happened while lying down, while sitting down and while standing up.

    And question number 4:

I've been getting breathless when lying down and sitting down, and sometimes while standing up as well. I can't lay on my back for more than 2 minutes at a time or I feel like I'm not getting enough oxygen, and there are times when I'm sitting and standing up straight that the same thing happens and I have to live with it until the feeling goes away.
Last night was the worst of it as I had to stand up for about 20 minutes while watching DS in the bath while hubby went and picked up something from the shop, and I found myself literally hanging off the bathroom door handle because I felt like I was going to fall down and I was getting spasms through my legs and feet while it was happening.

    Any ideas anyone?

And all advice would be greatly appreciated as always!

For fundal heights, I think 2-3 weeks either side is generally fine.

Sounds like your DD has long legs... Don't worry about the differing estimates - they are all just estimates. If they're all round about 1-2 weeks either side of what they expect, then should be fine.

Possibly you have low blood pressure? Feeling faint isn't that uncommon during pregnancy. Also, if you're lying on your back you may be compressing some artery or other (can't remember name) which can leave you feeling short of breath and/or dizzy.

If you think you might be having heart palpatations, then definitely have a talk with your doc/midwife.

    All the best~

I remember with Jack they told us that one leg was a lot longer than the other and that when he was older he may have a limp!! He has two totally normal legs!! I take their measurements with a grain salt, it's amazing how different each sonographer can measure the same baby, it's all just the click of a mouse hun.

As for laying on your back.....when I went for my last U/S, I had to roll over onto my side because I went all clammy and almost passed out. When you are preggers and lay on your back the baby puts pressure on a main artery that goes from your legs up to your heart.

    Thanks guys.

I have the flu again too (I just got over it almost 2 weeks ago lol), and a temp of 37.9 an hour after taking panadol so that might be adding to my discomfort as well, and doesn't help that the Braxton Hicks start up every time I stand up.

Tonight it's been feeling like she's engaging, as my pelvis feels just like it did with DS, but it's too early for that to happen right?

Marlene - Her legs even look longer in the u/s pics we have compared to her brothers u/s pics, and with the reach of her legs at the moment (felt like she was going to break my lower ribs tonight she was kicking that hard) I'm inclined to believe the scan right now lol

I don't feel clammy when I get short of breath, I just feel like I can't breath. It's a bit scary as this didn't start happening with DS until around 27-28 weeks.

    Thanks again guys

Just an update - 22 weeks 2 days today and saw the OB this morning... fundal height is now measuring at 28 weeks! And here I was thinking it was still down around the 25-26wk mark lol
Kind of freaky, a little bit worried, though the OB isn't, but I've been feeling out of sorts for past couple of days as well, so not really sure what to think right now.
