I have read a few things regarding when the baby develops it's hearing and how the baby can hear different things in the womb like the mother's heartbeat and blood pumping through the umbilical cord etc.....and I know our baby can already hear all that but when does the baby actually hear the mother's voice?
Am i at the stage now where our baby can probably hear and recognise my familiar voice?
I'm curious.....I talk to our baby a fair bit and soon would like to start reading short stories every night before i fall asleep to the baby.... i've read that you can do this and when the baby is born and you read to them, they can sometimes understand and remember the familiar words/sounds of the story that they were told in utero, and it can help calm them and make them feel comfortable/secure and familiar. Not only for this reason, but also as "bonding" time for me and baby, where I get to spend that special 15mins of the night just talking to baby.
Hope i'm making sense, i'm so tired and have PG brain!!
I am not sure when they hear you but it was amazing with DS, cause DH talked to him every night before going to sleep and when he was just minutes old DH spoke and Riley's head whipped straight round to see him as if he knew the voice. It was beautiful and really helped with their bonding.
Aww that's so cute! When did your DH start talking to your belly? Do you remember?
Now and then DH does but he's still a bit shy about it but he's getting there.... he rubs my belly and puts his hand there and kisses my belly it's cute.
DH says when i started showing he started talking to DS. I noticed with DD2 that when DD1 was reading her reader to me she would move over to that side of my tummy to be nearer her sister.
DH didn't really talk to DD as he was kind of shy but did heaps with DS and it made a lot of difference to their bonding.
that's so exciting to know our baby can probably hear us now!!
I have noticed if i'm laughing out loud or calling out to DH pretty loudly, bubs will stir a fair bit.....
Also in the car when i have the radio on playing music i get quite a bit of movement too!
After talking to DH last night about our baby hearing us, he put his mouth to my belly and started singing it was cute
DS used to sleep during class when the kids were noisy and wake up at recess and lunch!! One of the teavhers at school has a very loud voice and yells fiercely sometimes, I taught next door to her for much of the pg and once when DS was tiny I took him into her classroom when she was yelling at the class, now this woman scares the smaller kids at school until they get to know her but Riley just cooed and smiled while she was yelling cause he knew the sound!! We joke it was a soothing womb noise to him!!
I have noticed with all my kids that the noise of lots of children playing and shouting doesn't bother them cause they heard it so much in the womb.
I read that it was around 18 weeks? That's when DH started reading to my belly every night, and I started playing piano to bub
Unfortunately tho with #2 I think all she heard was me telling DS to stop climbing on the kitchen bench and to put his toys away etc etc. LOL. She had a very different experience in the womb I think! LOL. She also got lots of kisses from her big brother though
ETA: Oh, and I remember I once at my SIL's she switched on her antiquated LOUD food mixer thing, and the baby did a massive flip! I had to leave the room for him to settle down LOL.
when i was preg with my DS, the east enders theme would make his head turn lol
its funny what makes them smile and coo when they r born.
also when it came on hed go nuts in my belly kicking and getting excited, its just a wonderful feeling, but this time im gunna make its my voice bubbs knows lol
