I sorted out baby clothes and put them away at about 28 weeks, and then rewashed them closer to when bub was due.
I'm almost 26weeks along and as of today have been through my old baby items from my DD's to see what I need for a new DD. Turns out I don't need a thing for new bub for the first 6months (unless she turns into a he) but at 26weeks I thought its a little too early to wash things and put them in new DD's draws as at potentially 4months away it seems a while to sit there waiting for use. When have or would others wash these items and pack them away for use? I want to get started as I have a whole garbage bin of clothes and wraps, MCN I don't want to be doing at the last minute but I also don't want nicely washed things to sit there for months! Any suggestions?

I think I did all the washing around 35 - 36 weeks, it only ended up being about 6 loads including all the linen etc so it only took a couple of days.
Washed most a couple of weeks ago and folded them - the nursery still has to be painted though, so nothing is away.
Also washed all the nappies, and hung them all out in the sun, just have to put them all back together again.
Still have a fair amount of stuff to wash, and will sort as I put away, so some of it will be being sold on or donated. (Lily has already claimed a baglol)
I have been itching to do it since about 22 weeks, but I KNEW I would need to do it again, and this way it will keep me amused in the TWW![]()
I've sorted through all of the clothes and put them in plastic tubs according to size. I was given a heap of second hand, good quality clothes that I washed before putting them in the tubs and will wash again with the rest of the stuff I already had, probably when I'm around 35 weeks or so.
It's hard to resist doing it all now!
I didn't get a chance to with DS1, actually we didn't have very much for him at all when he arrived... only a handful of clothes and some bibs. No cot, no pram, no car seat, nothing... so I did things a lot earlier with DS2, I had everything washed and ready to go by 24 weeks.
I've started buying new things for the twins but have kept in there bags with the tags on still until I feel confident enough that they will arrive safe and sound before I start to wash anything. In the next few weeks I'll probably go through DD's really small baby things to see if there is anything we can use for the boys but if not they will be getting sold and donated.
I'll probably start washing somethings around 30 weeks as who knows when they will arrive, but at this stage they won't have a room until thay are about 6 months old (when DD will move into our smaller spare bedroom) so they will be in with us until then so I will only wash what I need as I need it.
I did a nappy wash new years eve (30 wks pg), but I'll do a clothes wash and re-wash the nappies when I'm on maternity leave in 2 weeks (35 wks). Perhaps not til after the baby shower - whenever that will be![]()
Gosh I must be lazy!! I went through bubs new stuff and DS old things about a week ago. I have only just finished washing it all (including sheets and blankets) and am in the process of folding sorting and putting it away. Plus I have to pack some because we are going to Sydney from our home to give birth (no mat. hospital to give birth in here-about an 8hr trip). Plus I am having my baby shower tomorrow (yay!!) and I will undoubtedly want to take some of that stuff, but will have to take it as is and wash it at my mums as we leave EARLY Sunday morning!
I did DD's at around 32 weeks. I couldn't really leave it any longer because it was getting to the pour down rain months. I didn't want to chance them getting the damp smell that's a PITA to get out if they didn't dry quickly.
It only occurred to me in the last couple of days that I should probably go through my baby clothes and have some stuff washed and ready for DS2 to wear. He is my fourth baby so the whole time I have been thinking that I pretty much have everything I need and don't need to do any shopping for him. It has only just hit me that I should actually get stuff ready and wash it before he comes. It only occurred to me a couple of weeks ago that we have to fit a car seat for him too ... I don't know what I have been thinking.
Anyway, so with the best of intentions to do it ASAP, I pulled all my baby clothes out (they are in plastic tubs sorted according to size and gender) and they are sitting underneath my piaon waiting for me to sort them. I was going to do it yesterday and just haven't got that far. Can anyone say procrastination?
crikey I had everything ready in the 1st tri I reckonanything that I got along the way was washed when I got it.
i had every intention of waiting til 30wks+ but i was just too excited!!! I think I had it all done by 28wks!! Whenever you're ready![]()
Mildez-i am 29 weeks and did all my washing a week ago and put it in air tight bags and the linen in a basket covered to keep dust off i have done it early because i was told i could end up on bed rest or in hospital at any time from 28 weeks so i wanted to be prepared i will pack it all into the draws either the week they book my c section or if i can have a natrual birth at 37 weeks only because i am a routine clean freak like order in the house type person i have both mine and little misses hospital bags done and ready to go also.
Thanks again for all your replies. Mine is now all still in the indoor bin waiting for a further gestation before I wash it and hide it in the suitcase with a lock (DH doesn't know bubs gender) I've decided I'll wash all the towels and unisexed nappies and have that on the change table about 36weeks. Now I just have to wait until the time comes and in the mean time I've started selling some stuff on ebay for $$ to buy new stuff and to make room for that new stuff. Its all getting very exciting now :-)
Well I've got a few items which have been stored with moth balls, although I'm not sure if it was napthalene or something else. So I have washed them and I am leaving them on a line which gets the sun for a week, and I will probably wash them a number of times and do the same.
