Sorry if this is a stupid question but it's driving me nuts now.
I went for my first appt with the hospital on Monday and the midwife seemed really happy with my weight, progress, etc. She said I'm at exactly my perfect BMI which she said is a great achievement for a pregnant woman apparently and my weight gain is negligible at this point. I kept asking her about my lack of belly - I keep saying it just looks like I've eaten a big bowl of pasta at lunch - and she kept assuring me everything was okay.
She also advised that a lot of first-time mummies begin to gain weight around their waist first - thickening up or creating love handles - as opposed to showing right away. Also, I'm 5'8 (172cm), now 62.5kg and am very small-boned so she said I will most likely not carry as someone heavier than I would.
All of this makes sense and I realise that everyone carries differently and begins to show at various times, dependent on numerous factors. But when I finally 'pop', will it be an overnight thing? Will I one morning wake up and have my much-anticipated belly or will it just be a gradual process? I'm jumping out of bed each morning and rushing to look in the full-length mirror and I'm honestly starting to feel like quite the dork.
This may sound silly and so many people, including my midwife and Dr, have told me I should be grateful while it lasts but seeing other people's photos, combined with the fact that I had a low PAPP-A reading at my 12wk scan has left me freaked out a bit.
TIA if you have made it through reading this one!

it can sure seem like it happens overnight. I woke up one morning and felt like I'd swallowed a basketball! With this bub i didnt show (well at work, no one knew) til 18 weeks. First bub was a bit earlier strangely enough, but i was a lot thinner that time so it was more obvious.
Mine definitely popped! Around 18 weeks it as like I woke up with a belly! I would say that from the start to the end of week 18 I definitely went from just looking a bit podgy to people asking me how far along I was! You are fine, darl...just have to be patient
Mine was gradual, sorry hon! It feels now like it happened over night but looking at my belly pics, it was a slow process. I think people started to notice my belly more at about 16 weeks and now at 22, there is no hiding it at all. I definitley have propper pregnancy belly now but am often told how 'neat' it looks.
Hun, I was 40 weeks and noone would believe I was due, they would say, no way you are only like 6 months... Some people never get that basketball belly... Hopefully you will get yours soon though...
