White blood cells in urine?

Hi,
I had a doctor's appt today, and she said that there were white blood cells in my urine. she said it's probabaly nothing to worry about but she would send it off. i didn't really ask anything about it, but now it's driving me crazy not knowing. what could this be? could it be a yeast infection or STI like chlamydia?? I'm worrying myself over it now

Hi Sparkle, its most likely either a UTI- urinary tract infection or cross contamination. Did you def get a midstream urine and not touch anything down there when you were doing the sample?? Do you have any other symptoms?? Hee i knows its about hard to tell if you are going to the loo more often!!! Or does it sting? Your GP should have the results back in 24-48 hours but maybe you want to call her today and see if she has heard anything because tomorrow will be the weekend and if you do have a UTI you will need some antibioitics. It could also be a bladder infection or cystitis. As for being a STI, im pretty sure not as you cant just pick that up from doing a dipstick on a urine and is most likely one of the other things, or cross contamination- ie. you may have got some skin cells in the jar when you were doing a wee. Id def call the GP and tell her you are worried and find out a bit more.

Thanks Mel. I wasn't told that it was supposed to be midstream, maybe i was just supposed to assume that? i don't have any other symptoms or anything like that, which is why i am worried it could have been an STI. i had chlamydia before right when i found out i was pg and i didn't have any symptoms at all, so now i automatically jump to conclusions whenever something comes up. (not that i am sleeping around or being unsafe, but my bf and i had a rough patch and broke up for a while a few weeks back.. i dont know if he could have caught it again). i will call my doc though, just so I can put my mind to rest!!
