I ave been researching which baby products I would like to use for m baby. After hours of study it was abundantly clear that I should stick with the Natural Organic products (Aromababy, Gaia Baby and Miessence) as oppose to the supermarket shelf products we all know.
Can anyone tell me why they ted to use so much Lavender in baby products?
Before I had a chance to make a final decision on which products I would like to use, my Mum has bought me a travel pack of the Gaia baby products (which is fine), however, every product has an overpowering smell of lavender.
Is there something in lavender that is good for the baby? Why not rose, or orange blossom fragrance etc?
lavender is calming and relaxing, as is chamomile. Its supposed to help babies sleep, reduce stress, tension etc.
These are the two most common essential oils Ive seen included in baby products. Amolin make a baby bath thats just chamomile, i think that has a much more subtle scent, but its harder to find in the shops.
Also, it's one of the cheaper essential oils. Rose damask (in very dilute form) for example, is ok with young bubbas but geez louise, it does cost a pretty penny!!!
I'm pretty sure I've read that lavender has healing/soothing properties too. That's a good point on price though Marydean!
But the strong smell is good, so your baby can outstink all the people with super strong perfume who insist on leaving their scent on them. We started off with Gaia, I love their Soothing lotion.
You could try the Aromababy moisturiser, the one I have doesn't really have a scent, I got it so I could moisturise my toddler's dry face without him screwing his nose up at the smell, or trying to lick it cos it smells good!
It has healing/antiseptic uses similar to tea trea, eucalyptus and etc but is more gentle than them and is soothing on the skin and when inhaled so I guss that's why.
Smells like dog poo on me however...can't wear/use anything with lavendar. The dog poo smell is overwhelming! LOL.
