    1st internal exam

    Hi ladies! Just a question...

I had my first internal today at the Obstetrician. (Very excited to be 1cm dilated already, and a softened cervix.) She did a sweep she said which apparently should help "kickstart" this bub!! Here's hoping!! Anyway, she said I would have a *TMI* gloppy, pink tinged d/c because of the KY Jelly and the blood on my cervix. I was expecting this.

When I have gotten home and gone to the ladies, there was d/c, but it was a really brown d/c, not at all like she was explaining. It was almost like old blood. Has anyone else had this?

(I'm 37weeks, 4 days with a big bub on board by the way, if that make any difference)

I had a S&S done yesterday afternoon- that afternoon I had a bit of discharge, but it was just like short stringy bits of mucous and they were quite darkly coloured- like old blood. This morning in the shower a long stringy blob came out, which was also darkly coloured (as much as I could take note of before it quickly disappeared down the drain!), and a bit more dark coloured discharge today.

I had the same thing on Tuesday.
Tuesday night I had small amounts of old blood and quite a bit of uncomfortableness in the general area.
    Wednesday nothing.
Today, has big globs of mucous, stained with small amounts of old blood. I'm trying to figure out if that constitutes a "bloody show" or whether it's just losing the plug, and whether that means anything!

I'm glad i'm not the only one. I noticed earlier that I had a sticky mucousy clump when I wiped. It seems to have stopped now though. I'm so ready for this bubba to come out, so I'm not sure if I'm making more of it then I should!!

hi, i had my 1st internal with DD at 10am and had her the next day at 8am! Not that this is going to happen to you (or maybe it will). I was 38wks and also noticed a little bit of bleeding but was not worried until i had cramps later that evening, then they got closer and closer - well you know the rest. My internal did bring on my labour. Good luck to you. So exciting and so much to look forward to.

The stuff (!) that's coming out today is yellow, rather than clear/blood tinged. Do you think that's a problem?

Earth99 I have no idea either, but if you're worried about it I would definitely be giving your midwife/ob/hospital a call to ask. DF made me call our maternity ward at 3am the other morning because he was worried that the period-like pain I'd been feeling wasn't normal...I wasn't worried because it was there before but just to put his mind at rest I gave them a call.

https://www.bellybelly.com.au/Pregna...cous-plug-show Kelly's article on the mucous plug, worth a read if you havent already

from memory my mucous plug was not clear at all... it had a yellow tinge to it with red blood streaks. (if you google mucous plug you should see 3 pics that come up.. might be worth having a lookie!)
